Sounds like the op was the one offering up unsolicited opinions...if you don’t have anything encouraging to say then...why?

So constructive criticism is bad, and sharing experiences is bad?

Only thing I said was my opinion that Ibanez and Jackson's QC has been in decline in recent years which was a reply to someone who was stating the same experience. This was on a video talking about NAMM and what was shown. This was my opinion after purchasing several Jackson guitars and trying at least a dozen Ibanez in the past couple years. So does that justify saying I dont know shit, have no experience, and have no idea what I'm talking about? I've been playing guitar since the mid 80's and I have been a fan of both brands for a better part of my life. Can I not in a contructive way say that it seems like these companies QC has been in decline in recent years as it pertains to the discussion? Should everything be glowing reviews and opinions? If so then why even have discussions on videos or websites like this? There is a way to state an opinion without taking it personal and attacking someone who simply is just stating their experience. Now if I was going to a video that the company itself posted and bashed or even critiqued the brand then I could see having an issue with what I said. But a video that was casually talking about upcoming gear would this not be a welcome part of the discussion? Personally when I'm shopping around I do value the negative comments as much as the positive as long as it's constructive.

Having said that I read comments, posts, reviews etc and use that as a guide to making my purchase. If an overwhelmingly amount of people have said that they have gotten a great product with no issues I'm more inclined to buy sight unseen. But if I read several similar testimonies of a product I take what was said and weigh whether it would be an issue for me or maybe try to buy from a brick and mortar store so I could put my hands on it first.

I don’t know the context but IME jumping onto someone’s YT vid to offer reasons why you believe the product they are highlighting is subpar is in poor taste. Contrary to our current societal trends, everyone’s opinion doesn’t need to be expressed all the time. That’s kinda what turns the YT comment section into a cesspool.

Can you? Of course. But...again...why?

That depends greatly on where it takes place. If I come on to a forum and ask for advice about guitars then of course not. If I post a video of my new Ibanez and you jump in to tell me why my guitar sucks...well, that’s just douchey.

I got this one a few weeks ago.

I’ll give You an A+ for effort Bro, but I’ll be blatantly honest with You by giving You a harsh C-, & possibly even a less than pleasing/& not so solid D in regards to Your overall musicianship/& Your lack of attention to any/& practically ALL DETAILS smaller than anything blatantly obvious. I’ll explain My exact reasons for My Personal Grade/& My Personal Opinion After I just say this quick little statement because I want people to get the record straight that I’m not saying anything negative to be a douchebag, or put peoples hard work down into the dirt shattered into a million pieces, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

I choose to blatantly/& brutally honest to fellow musicians about ANYTHING/& EVERYTHING, but most of all I’m most brutally honest regarding someones weakness/mistakes/flaws/sloppy parts/& sloppy, & sometimes just plain shitty technique/& lack of attention to every single little detail no matter how big/or how small. I do this particularly because I want fellow musicians to be told the brutally honest truth at all times so that they can go back, & work on the mistakes that were made so that they can grow, & become the best possible musician that they could ever possibly be.

Work on locking in everything within the rhythm section (This Also Applies To Lead Guitar As Well, But Focus First On Getting The Rhythm Guitars/Bass Guitar/& Drums Locked Into The Groove Pocket As Tight As Humanly Possible For The Entire Song) this is seriously integral to a band sounding SOLID.

Work on Your playing precision on all four instruments. Make sure each note You play is correct, & make sure Your fingering is very precise on the fretboard to get the clearest/most in tune/& strong articulate note each note played, & ONCE AGAIN make sure You remain LOCKED IN TIGHT WITH THE DRUMS/& DRUM BEAT ESPECIALLY WITH THE BASS

JUST PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL OF EVERY NOTE PLAYED ON EVERY INSTRUMENT DON’T EVER SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN PERFECT, OR AT LEAST NOTHING SHORT OF YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!

Good job, keep trying, keep practicing, & keep getting better Brother I hope this helps You at least in some way even if it’s just a tiny bit. My videos are extremely old, & I do not play shitty like that anymore in case You ever see My page and watch the videos of the Pink Floyd Covers I did with a few friends when I first started playing bass 14-15 years ago when I was a Freshman at Dos Pueblos High School. Please trust that I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE I DO TRUST, & BELIEVE ME ON THAT BROTHER!!!!! I could go into way WAY MORE DETAIL ABOUT EVERYTHING I’VE ALREADY MENTIONED ABOVE, & MUCH MORE WHICH WOULD MAKE THIS COMMENT THAT MUCH MORE UNBEARABLY LONG TO READ ALL OF THE WAY THROUGH SO I’LL JUST LEAVE IT AT WHAT I’VE STATED ABOVE!!!!!!!!!!

Take Care, & Good Luck Brother!!!!!!!!!!

I posted what I THOUGHT was a neutral comment on a video and then someone started commenting on my videos I have up of my daughters when they were 1 and 2 years old. Shit like, "I hope your ugly babies die" "chop your balls off so you don't have anymore kids". I sent the idiot a message saying I really felt sorry for them, and pitied them. For someone to get soo angry over such trivial shit their life must really suck.

Again, this wasnt posting about a product that was specifically being highlighted/demo it was just a discussion on NAMM. If they were demoing a new amp and showing all the features etc I wouldnt take the time to knock it even if it was constructive. But just a general discussion on what was shown at namm and what they liked and didnt like was an open discussion which was welcoming dialogue. And I completely agree if someone put up a video of a piece of gear they just got and they like it would be shitty to make disparaging comments. It was more along the lines of "Friedman is coming out with this line, Peavey this, and Ibanez has a new line.... what do you guys think or looking forward to" or something to that affect.

Someone made a comment about their experience, I agreed based on my recent experience then in comes random viewer to get overly hostile like he owns a shit ton of stock in the company and my opinion tanked his earnings...

Fuck man, who has that much hate in their heart? That seems like someone who is a bit unstable. I tend to think most people are well adjusted and of reasonable intelligence but unfortunately the cretins are typically the most vocal.

I seen a guy say similar stuff in a facebook group I'm a member of where a guy posted a video of a song he was getting ready to release. He said something like "bro dont release that yet cause you have a bad note at the start..." Last time I looked music isnt a competition. If the best I can do is a half ass Ramones cover but I'm happy with it then that should respected. The people who tend to do shit like this often over estimate their talent or importance.

If you treat online discourse as you would a face to face conversation the whack jobs usually don’t come out. I tend not to tell strangers what I really think about them lol. If I like something I see on YT, I may tell them. Otherwise who cares, move on. The wordy douchebag who ‘constructively criticized’ @gregm is an extreme example, but the premise is the same.

Everyone’s time would be better spent telling me what the best treble booster and muff clone is lol cause that is the hunt this week! I care dammit!

Dude, I love my Naga Viper. Very flexible because of being able to adjust the frequency range of the boost.

Great to hear—just picked up a HiTone JP that I’m dying to run it through. And the Marshall SC20 as well...how do you use it?

It works great on the orange channel of my TVerb. Depending on the amp settings affects how I set the shelving on the pedal boost. Great for volume roll off as you get a clear bright cleaner tone that sounds awesome for old school surf rock and Link Wray type stuff. Also great into the crunch channel of my Stiletto and my Laney 6 knobber from the 80's. Instant classic 70's metal and hard rock tones. Unleashed From the East and the like.
Usually the knobs on the pedal are all at about 1-2 O'Clock.

well, art for some people is a sport, so second places are not respected
