Looks neat! This is a complete rookie question but are those turrets on the board not soldered on purpose?

Looks cool though. I'd eventually like to build an amp.

Cheers.

Yeah, I left them unsoldered so I can swap parts during testing. Then when I find the sound I like, I'll solder them in.

Boner material.

Why is it threads like this seem so much cooler than the NAD or NGD threads to me?

Martin, it's because it's badass! Haha

I love guitar build threads too, they are inspirational. Anyone can go buy an amp, not everyone can build them!

Depends on the gear I guess. If it's an amp or a guitar that everyone else already has, or it's commonplace, then it's not that exciting. But if it's something rarely seen, then it can be cool. Build threads are always my favorite—whether it's an amp or a guitar or a pedal or cab. Same reason I watch How It's Made all the time lol.

I figured that was the deal. Very cool.

Good work.

That looks amazing ! Nice work there,I can appreciate the detail and hard work you put into this build!

Cool! I liked the chupa that I had but the mids just seemed neutered compared to the classic "Marshall mids" that I love. That and the gain was a little too smooth and saturated. I really like the tweaks you did on the first one.

Replace the stock 47K slope resistor with 33K or 39K and boom... there you go: classic "Marshall mids" are there. The 47K is closer to what Soldano uses in the SLO.

I really love having a power transformer with solder tags. Makes wiring it up much cleaner. Wish more companies would do it this way.

I love the solder tabs too. What iron in this one? Same voltages? Curious to hear how much different it sounds.

The PT here is Marstran (Heyboer). The secondary is a bit higher than the Classic Tone in the first one I built.

Hell yes, love seeing you building these amps. Great work dude!

Are you staking your own turrets, or getting them from Ceriatone. They seem wider than the ones I use. I like those better

Nah, board is from Ceriatone. The turrets are fairly nice. The rivet on the underside could use a bit of improvement. But they get the job done. I'd stake my own board, but I don't have the tools/space for that. I like the multi-level turrets a lot though!
