I am looking to replace the bridge pickup in my 2007 LP Std. It currently has the stock pickup (Burstbucker Pro), which I like, as it gets in your face, especially on the treble side. I like that as I play through the Diezel Herbert and I think it helps to have that treble push. My only complaint is that it gets a little mushy when the gain gets turned up. I have narrowed my choices to the BB and Detroiter, but wanted to get some feedback from anyone that has gone down the same path.

I have a Detroiter set in my LP, and like them alot! MCP FTW!

Do you know if the Detroiter is brighter than the Burstbucker Pro's?

Music styles from 70's Van Halen to 80's Rock/Hard Rock (Mötley Crüe/Metallica) to today (Shinedown/Alter Bridge/Adelita's Way)

I didn't like the 2nd degree BBs. If it must be MCP, go Detroiter. You could also try Dimarzio Norton -- Sounds great in a Les Paul across the spectrum.

I am also looking into these two and possibly the Nasty Nasty.

Does your LP have 500k volume pots?

What affect will the volume pots have on tone?
They can restrict the treble and make a pup sound choked, bad low end response and such, for humbuckers that is.I like both of those pickups that you suggested and currently have the 2 degrees in my vos and have a nastee nastee in a charvel, also had the Detroiters in an anderson that was also very nice, the 2 ds with anlicoVs have a nice edge and not as harsh as the burstbucker pro,the detroiters are a tad hotter and meaner but sound bitchin also.If you lived close, you could come check out a few MCPs over here!!!

So which one sounds closest to the BB's but with good string separation when the gain's turned up?

To me the 2 degrees.I actually had a couple of my buddies LPs over here with BB pros and the 2 ds sounded the closest

Is that the "new" Modern pup from MCP? I fall more on the vintage side.

Yes it is as well as the Garuda's!!!!

Hmmm, not sure if they are "modern" but they are high output. They still remain clear and tight and clean up well. I did a really quick demo. It's too early to play and I sucked, too much gain. Can't find my glasses to turn down the gain. This was AxeFx 2 direct, single pass stereo track.

I don't see these on Wade's site. What are they? There's also some Nasty Nasty's, which I've not heard of either. Anyone have any info on them?

Email Wade. He will explain them to you. I talked to him about the Hotheads, Garuda, and Nasty Nasty's on the phone and went with the Garuda for my ESP Horizon NTII. The Garuda's are kind of his take on the JBs.
