Took my RM100KH with Mr Scary, Friedman modded Hairy Brown Eye, and Pete modded XTC modules, my Washburn N4 and some pedals. Bill had his rack complete withmesa stuff, AxeFX, Eggie preamp with the SL, Erect, EG5 and something else?? Bill's buddy brought over his Dean Rusty Cooley 7 string, Suhr Modern, and some old type of McNaught. There was a also another guy there that did some country chicken picken.

I think Bill recorded everything but is giging tonight so I doubt we'll hear any audio for a few days.

I loved the Hairy Brown Eye(HBE) Dan Hops loaned me prolly over everything. I will say that Pete's XTC module got a lot of love there and sounded better through Bills rig than mine. Fantastic for lead work. Bills EG5, SL(took to pedals very well) and Erect mlodules were really nice. Played through his Axe FX a little and it was pretty neat.

Highlight of the day was finally getting to play a McNaught. It was all I hoped it would be. Looked great, played like butta and soundeD fantastic!!! The Modern was sweet to. Would love to own either of those guitars. I think my Washburn held up quite nicely though and may have been the punchiest sounding guitar there. Just my opinion of course. ;) The Dean 7 string was wild and looks much neater in person. Weird for me to play though. Anyway maybe Bill will eventually chime in after his gig or tomorrow. I'm interested in hearing some of playing. Bill and Alex were flying. Incredible shredders. Wish I had their chops.

What kind of Mcnaught? Single cut, Phoenix, G4/5? How did the Modern compare (Wood, Finish) not sonically? Always wanted to try a Mcnaught, ordered a Modern that should arrive in July.

I think it's called a Tempest. McNaught dosn't make them anymore. As far as whcih was better qualitywise? They were both perfect.. Two different guitars built to an unreal quality level!

Sounds like a good time. Cant wait to hear some clips. All through the same cab and mic placement?

Anyday is a cool day hanging with you guys

Hopefully in 2009 we can all get together again. It would be ashame if we didn't. Especially if there is plenty of new gear to be demoed.

MAn sounds like a killer time bro!!! I dont have many gear whores around me, well there is Rufus Randy here in CT but that is about it. The guys I jam with are not sluts at all, the drummers set is an orginal 68 Ludwig and he JUST changed the bottom skin for the first time today to show me how to do it!!! The other guitar player shows up with an Fender hotrod 1x12 while I am lugging a 1/2 stack and about 5-6 pedals. IT is all good though, we enjoy our weekly 3 hour jams and have a good time.

I really hope to see the guys this year either at the amp show or when Mike Fortin shows up.

That was a really fun time. Apologies to the NY/NJ HOM crew, but this was a 2-3 hour quickie since I had to coach soccer earlier that day and had a gig that night to pack up for. I'd like to have a full blown, all day ampfest sometime this summer maybe and invite everybody.

As far as new modules I got to try, I really dug the Friedman HBE. I felt it was on par with with my EG5, and they had some similar characteristics. The HBE had a really nice voicing in the upper mids that I love. Believe it or not, the HBE with the gain almost all the way up was equal to the EG5 with the gain just past noon. :D That says a lot for the amount of gain available in the EG5. I'm going to have to get the HBE to add to my collection.

The Mr. Scary was nice as well, but it seemed the HBE did the Mr. Scary better than the Mr. Scary if that makes sense. I know Alex loved the modded XTC and it was nice but I much more like my MHG. The MHG is just my tone when it comes to soloing. Now I'd really like to play Pete's newer version that is much closer to a real Ecstacy. I've loved every Ecstacy I've ever played and a module like the Red channel of the 101B would be sweet to own.

As far as guitars, Jim's N4 had probably the thickest tone out of any of them. It sounded like somebody put strings on a log. I'd love to track some rhythms with it. The McNaught is as good as anything out there as well as the Suhr Modern and my own Anderson. They are all just different flavors of excellence.

It's amazing how quickly the modular concept is catching on. My buddy Brett who is a great blues/country/rock guitarist who was there now has a Egnater M4 on order and even Alex is wanting to somehow get a MHG into his rack. In his words it was "one of the best lead tones I've ever played through.".

I was beat from my gig and never got the equipment trailer unloaded or even turned my computer on yesterday. There is about a 3 hour audio file I'll have to parse through to get some clips. It will happen, it just may take a few days.

Modular Amps ===> :rock:

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'd really like to test the M4.

Almost forgot: Bill, it's football, not soccer. ;) :D

It ain't much of a rig yet but I'm working on it. It hink you would love the Washburn N4.

I finally got chance to get a few clips from the recording. You can go here to download them:

Here's the problem...

I'm an idiot.
I remembered to bypass the EQ on my mixing board but I forgot to bypass the compressor. Most of the clips you will hear the volume pumping a little bit when it hits the compressor. Sorry. :aww:

The only clip which does not hit the compressor is the Ultra clip because that was before we turned the amp up.

The clip with the Eg5, Mr. Scary, XTC and HBE I am not sure of the order of which module was which. We were switching back and forth between the 3 of them.

Basically, don't take these clips as gospel of what the modules sound like. This should just give you a rough idea. Hopefully this summer I can host a "proper" ampfest and invite the whole HOM crew.

The clips do sound a bit messed up but oh well. I don't think we really captured any of the modules there. We were all just fiddling around switching guitars and modules. Just having fun.
