Anyone else get a notification from their SW rep that they are going to increase their prices soon? Important part of the email was - “we are expecting price increases on many of our brands in the coming weeks. These increases are due to shipping, production, and supply chain issues in the music retail and manufacturing industries”

Should we be expecting this across the board with other sites? Anyone with any insider info have a rough idea what percentage increases we will see?

everyone just needs to stop buying and let them sit with it until the "supply chain, shipping and production" issues improve. this has already happened with lumber and the housing market.... demand plummeted recently as consumers lose confidence in the economy.. A reckoning is coming.... read Michael Burry's latest tweets

All of my shipping costs & prices for parts have gone up in the last 4-5 months. The average upswing is 5-15% depending on the service. Anything fuel related (most stuff since it has to be shipped somehow) has gone up at least 10% since this fuel price increase of 30-35%. All of that has a trickle down effect on the parts needed to assemble products as well.

I'm sure Sweetwater has everything either drop shipped from the manufacturer to save costs, if they don't stock and ship it themselves. That brings in the fuel prices again.

Until fuel prices come down these costs are likely to continue. Nothing gets from Point A to Point B without transportation costs.

I think transport costs are hitting everywhere. It's not just the U.S. The global oil producers took a bath on prices last year when demand tanked, and over-corrected with their supply cuts. Apparently unexpected pandemics are hell on speculative commodities, lol. In the U.S. the atypically cold weather hit some of the refineries in the south pretty hard, which has affected their output, and they further raised prices to offset the decrease in production. We've been seeing rising demands all year with things reopening, on top of the normal demand increases we see with summer travel, all without commensurate increases in supply.

This is a big part of it too, also exacerbated by the pandemic:

I imagine we'll see the impact pretty broadly. It's going to be awhile before everything catches back up.

It's in every industry.
Pretty much this.

And the more specialized an items manufacturing process, the more the sliding scale of costs rises too - been seeing that in a number of areas.

AND there's also this inflationary thing going on - money's fkn cheap nowadays - I think the wizened corporations are definitely tagging and bagging with the gaff it's transport/manufacturing/staffing issues (which partially it is, sure) but they'll wag that dog for as long as possible as it's just fattening up their bottom line.

Not a fan of sweetwater at all. Several years ago, I needed some new power tubes for my mark v. Absolutely had to have them by Saturday, so I went online and ordered them on a Monday. Order went through and I was supposed to have them before the end of the week. Got a message from my ‘rep’ on Wednesday evening (which I didn’t listen to until Thursday) wanting me to give him a call to make sure I didn’t need anything else before sending out my order. Did not see that coming at all. Ugh!!!

Didn’t see the email, but it is expected. SW typically offers free shipping, wondering if that will continue.
