this is great. My problem is the new metal snare sounds like a roto tom, lol. My frined was telling me to check out that other band, and i didn't really care for it, but the snare sounded like a snare.

Some bands now have snare almost sounding like the kick . It’s insane

Pretty easy to make a snare sound that great in a mix when there is literally nothing else in the way!

Black album still has my Vote and always will.

It is pretty cool . But my ultimate snare is Al on this

Love his snare...but only in the context of VH. Don't want to hear that anywhere else as it sounds too much like a hollow can with no bottom. Funny how that is.

Always loved the punchy organic sound of the kit and snare on these two songs. Snare's production is slightly different on each:

White Sister

Mama

Gated snare with added white noise. It's definitely a thing.

IIRC it was "discovered" in the '80s.

I've always thought Colin Richardson gets the best drum tones.

yess, that is percussive. I am a former drummer, So I am very sensitive to the snare.
Oh really?
Snare Karen?
Well let Sal here give ya a taste of your own
medicine.

"Mr bigtime reverb snare sound decay dude".
THIS is the best snare sound EVAR'.
