Def Leppard will make Motley look like a complete joke. They are co-headlining and doing 36 shows. Each band will be the closer 18 times. So the Crue has 18 shows where they will need to follow DL. They might as well let Leppard close all 36.

Vince is gonna make a clown show out of it all, but I'll still put Mick up against anyone else. He carries that band. Sure, he can't move around much, but his tone and chops are top notch. And you know he is in pain for every second of their set and soldiering through it. I have nothing but the utmost respect for that man. He didn't get the glory he deserved back in the day, but he should get it now because he totally kicks ass.

When I saw them in 2017 there was 100% tracks running the gang vocals, keyboard parts and effects tracks. The drummer had headphones playing the click track. All the delays where locked into tempo track being fed from Cubase. Auto patch changes of the JMP via MIDI etc. Video screens also running off the laptop sync.
If any other band did this = "uh that's not rock n roll" "uhhh no stage volume" "uhh no air pushing from speaker" "uh every performance is the same" "uh live set is on rails" "uh there is no live feel"
When Def Leppard do it = **tumble weed**

I always thought Motley Crue was pretty cheesy. Especially after their first couple records.I have come to realize that I dislike DL more and more. They are utter and complete cheese. Almost everything after Hysteria is lame. Even worse because it shoots for that sound which was great for the time but then was dated. BUT they do sound really good here. Impressed with Joe's voice. He's aged but found a way to still have the tone and sing the songs. Also impressed with backing vocals. These are REAL vocals and not the canned backing track vocals which they will likely use on the big stadium tour. I think people were probably lucky to see a more stripped down set here. Band sounds great. Joe should think about cutting his hair though, starting to look a little trans. Not that there is anything wrong with it..unless you don't want to look that way...which I am assuming he doesn't. He's becoming a cougar instead of spending time with cougars.

Neither of us can prove otherwise. But only one of us is projecting and missquoting people.
They play "rock n roll" to a computer generated tempo track to a room full of suburban wine moms. At very least they will be running all those dubbed studio Mutt Lange effects on a laptop running Cubase.

show me proof of your theory that in the video posted they are using pre recorded cubase tracks .. watch the fucking thing and you will HEAR that every single guitar note and every single vocal is live ... Ricks using a click track (if he even is ... you know with IEM it is pretty hard to hear when behind a drum kit so using earmuffs seems like a good solution), big fucking deal

Who cares if they are using backing tracks? I have seen a lot of big bands use them. A lot of artists use midi click and sync to change presets- so that they can move around on stage and actually put on a show. I can promise that when these bands are playing they are not thinking about what a group of internet guitar players are concerned about.

I don't care. I run a hugely complex IEM click MIDI system for my band.
But the people who do care, I understand why they care. They want a rock n roll show starting with the drummer counting in on the sticks, lots of stage volume and a human performance. Some folks find dance music and other tempo locked performances a drag, and would rather a live performance.
I just assumed folks here prefer live performances since many grew up in the 70s/80s when bands played live.

It is a bigger deal than people realize because when you play to clicks and especially tracks, you now play to perfect tempo and quantization in the modern age. This makes the whole thing sort of drag along. Add the lower tuning in a lot of cases and singers not hitting the big notes and it comes across as lacking energy. KISS does this, Bon Jovi clearly got the click in the ear. Musicians aren't playing off each other anymore, they are playing off the track. I compare it to King Diamond for example where the performance is lively and everybody is playing off each other. ( Though for sure King for sure uses some creative backing vocal tracks in spots as well )
