Here comes the SLO pedal

Agreed.

A lot of Pete’s stuff sounds good, but it’s a red flag to me that NOTHING ever sounds bad.

It’s impossible to find an honest opinion on most gear reviews unless it’s a non shill nobody that you stumble upon.
See I rarely think any of his stuff sounds good…always has that VH thing, yuk.

Hard to argue your point, but I do like that particular tone.

I don’t play that style or use that tone, but I’ve always liked it. ?

Yeah. I think about all the gear I've tried or owned over decades of playing, and most of it sounded meh.

Only a few amps, pedals, sounded glorious.

But these fucking guys.. every piece of gear they're shilling sounds awesome. :p What are the odds ?

It sounds alright and seems to capture some of the SLO attributes...but there is just something about it that I don't really like can't quite put my finger on it. :dunno::confused: I've been through the Bogner Red and I have a BEOD deluxe which is kinda cool through my Bandmaster and it's pretty close to a Marshall but it just doesn't take the place of my real Marshall's and the feedback/feel they give playing a real amp. I guess I'm spoiled....:dunno:I imagine if I was still gigging the BEOD would be an awesome fly rig and the audience wouldn't know the difference. Not really diggi'n the the SLO in the Euge review either.

I was gonna ask why you sold the BE-OD.

I sold my Friedman branded one, but kept the clone I built.

I’m not sure I follow the “everything they demo sounds good, it makes it questionable” angle.

I mean, that’s kind of their job, to make it sound good. I’m sure that involves plenty of experimentation when they first get whatever it is and they’ve gotta figure out how to best display what it offers. Maybe if they included some of the experimentation in the videos that’d lend a hand to the authenticity? Like if Pete said “I first got this and tried it in the return of my PT-100, it sounded like shit, but it sounds awesome in front of this old Marshall” then cuts to a quick clip of him shaking his head while listening to a shitty tone coming through the monitors.

But I highly doubt the companies paying for these demos/reviews really want these guys displaying how many ways their product can sound bad.

It just doesn’t seem like that odd of a concept to me that guys with studios stocked with gear to span many genres/tones are capable of finding ways to make something work. Especially when that gear is in the hands of capable musicians who are getting paid to make it sound good. Hell, that sounds like a good time to me; take this pedal and go make it sound good through all this top of the line gear, then we’ll pay you for it. Sign me the fuck up!

Mike should've pocketed his acquisition money and retired for good instead of being a shill for Avi Elkiss. Doubt the little SS amp and the pedal has much to do with him design-wise.

I watch alot of his videos and think he does a great job with them. He is a good player and writer. The ones that are more “topic” instead of “product demo” are more interesting to me.

Yeah man, it's almost as if this thing called "marketing" exists and is planned out in advance!

lol I get it man... but don't be a stooge for these guys. If it sucks, I hope you will say it sucks. So far nobody is...which to me shows how these channels operate. Better than a desk job I know, but still sucks to be a slave to the "other" man. The marketing man! No matter where or who we are, we've got an overlord!

Ola bashes gear in a polite friendly manner I find entertaining. I’m sure if I was doing videos you’d be able to tell just by my facial expressions if I’m digging it or not, I don’t think I could pull off the huffing paint kind of happiness look for a whole vid but maybe I would just to fuck with people

I heard it will make you go cross-eyed if you do it too long.

Just picked one up last night. Not sure why there's all the hate, but to each their own. I played it through several amps in their clean channels. I thought it sounded pretty good. Backed the gain off and pushed it with a Shiba Drive and thought it sounded great. I didn't go into it looking for the "Soldano" sound or anything like that, just took it for a drive pedal. I wouldn't use it to push a dirty amp, but it'd make a good rhythm channel through a clean amp. Just my 2 cents.

That's fair, but the notion that it is in any way close to the amp is what makes me laugh. Because it isn't even close from what I have heard.
