I knew that was going to be the case. There is no way I can set it on 10 with the treble on 10 and it's going to give the same sound. No way. Solid state sucks for the most part save for a few special amps. The tone master bullshit is definitely flavor of the month gear right now. I get sick of people gushing over it. It's junk. I doubt any of it will be around 15 years from now. A hot rod is head shoulders above those. No comparison.A few years back I tried the new modelled "Tone master" Fender Twin Reverb Fender since you like Twin Reverbs. Compared to my valve Hot Rod Deville 212 and all the Twin Reverbs I ever remember playing it had no oomph. My Hot Rod Deville actually moves some air and feels like the bass notes punch you in the stomach. The Tonemaster was very two dimensional. I was ready to lay down some cash for it (who doesn't want a lighter twin reverb...) but I walked away from it after spending some time trying it. It had a lot of promise but I didn't think it delivered. It didn't sound like a valve amp to me.
If you wanted a Twin I would look for a late 60's or early 70's SF and have a good tech go through it. Might even pay to keep it a silverface considering your playing style, but the blackface mod is pretty simple. There are tons of Twins around here from about 800-1200 bucks. I paid 500 for a 1972 back in '18 using tip money from gigs. Not sure how the Aussie market is but there has to be a few since it's one of the most popular amps of all time.
