I always wanted to try the Citizen gain CRS 100, but have never had the chance. Now there is the Dragon ! Anyone compare the two ?
Which one has more gain ? Which do you prefere ?

Also does the kitchen sink have the same gain channal as the Citizen gain and or the Dragon ?

Very curious about these amps.
So the Dragon has 5 Preamp tubes. One for phase inverter, one for the loop. That leaves 2 tubes for the preamp. So I am guess it has 2 gain stage plexi channel and a cascaded 3 gain stage lead channel like a 2203.

So how much gain could it possibly have ? I have played very few 3 gain stage marshalls that was enough gain for me with out a boost.

What are you thoughts ?

BTW the clips I have heard of the Dragon and Citizen gain both sound good to me !

It’s got a shit- ton more gain than a 2203.

I had a citizen gain for a bit, I forget which model though. Great amp for the modded Marshall thing but that isn’t really my thing anymore.

I can confirm they are killer....

I've got a Citizen Gain SR head that I'm going to list for sale today as I'm trying to track down a channel switcher version. The range of tones you can get from these heads is nuts with the EQ switch options

The Citizen Gain I tried a few yrs back was killer. Great amps.

From clips, 3rd Power Amps have always been the best sounding "boutique" amps to me.

They are the only ones that I feel any desire to own.

They all have plenty of gain. From what I have seen and heard, the Dragon sounds phenomenal. I have the Kitchen Sink, which is the evolution from the Citizen Gain. I love my Kitchen Sink and I never have to boost it. Here are a couple of live clips of my amp. Plenty of gain and cuts through the mix. One of these days I will have to get it setup for home recording.

If I didn't have this Dragon amp, I'd own their Kitchen Sink. I knew from the first time I plugged in, it was next level (for me)
Now that I own it a while, I can't believe the options on a single channel amp and how they effect the tones. Like, EVERY option sounds awesome.
It's hard to pick one setting.
The cab is just as impressive. If I had the $$$$, I'd have a Kitchen Sink on their 2x12.

Hey Carl. Have you used this 412 in WDW?

No, I never tried WDW with it. I'm glad the cab's inputs are numbered!
It's an expensive cab, but the quality and workmanship are A+.
I'm sure the cab is killer in that WDW configuration. You can be sure it was well researched and tested.

Thanks Carl. I’ve got the Friedman 412 that is my go to dry cab. Have any experience with that one and how it compares?

No idea. From all I've seen/ read, the Friedman is a great cab.

The 3rd Power cabs are killer....I’ve got these and they are for sure a different thing, I don’t think the inner tuning and the triangle port are a gimmick at all, lots of thought went into them Massive sounding 1x12 and a 2x12 that’s not far off a 4x in sonic footprint ( and weight....)

I’ll add to my last September post here that I was successful in my Citizen Gain CSR 40 search and that its a F’ing ridiculously great amp. I’m prob 20 gigs into it by now and haven’t fired up the Wizard once for a show since I got it. Pretty much every sound you would need for nearly every genre is in there, no pedals required. I’ve also had both a Wooly Coates and a Clean Sink combo from 3rd Power, really can’t say enough about how killer these are
