Just bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X Open-Back headphones and I love them. I've only ever had cheap headphones and hardly ever used or needed them. I'm mixing a project now and my wife works from home and is always on conference calls. Even though her office is two floors above my studio, I just can't crank it like I used to.
I can't believe how good these sound. I have a pair of Mackie HR824 and a pair of Mackie HR624 MkII and it's not like I'm going to stop using them, but it's good to have a lower volume alternative.
I'm curious, have any of you switched to using mainly headphones for mixing?
