100% sis'.

Yes, he's not the manu; he said so publicly here. It's not a requirement anyway; it's a "vendor " space.

The idea is to help vendors as well as the community, obviously.

Dude would do well to pull his head in a bit. Hasn't broken any rules and has apologised to you and a couple o' others many times, so that's good at least.

Well, like you said regarding Larry that everyone has their own approach and their demeanor may or may not matter to those who are potential clients. I was more or less attempting to put my perspective on what may not be the greatest M.O. when representing a company that's not your own is all. I wouldn't want them to be personally taken to account for actions not within their control. That said, there would likely be a high probability that they wouldn't approve of this sort of representation. So, just recommending a course adjustment is all.

My only personal issue with him tbh, wasn't the trolling (as on some levels we all do it) but in that I was mistakenly under the impression that he was representing RT/Parent company staff along with the trolling. Outside of that, it's just exhaustive, but easy enough to ignore people. Some who have come in hot, have cooled down and have eventually been welcomed to the community. So, on some level there's still opportunity for that to occur but on him to convince members.

Unfortunately, I feel as if the start of this was based on recommending making friends that was taken as asking to kiss ass. It's just that I'm not a business here and aren't obligated to the same standards of equal opportunity as far as who I decide that I will or won't invest my time and energy into giving away free gear to. Asshole? Fine, plenty to go around. Not a long time trusted member? Get to work is all I was asking.

Again, 100% sis'. Good assessment.

OK, I have a verdict after putting it to the mods:

"We are responsible for nothing. Our Classified section offers nothing more or less than a local pinboard at a grocery store."

Rightly or wrongly, the time I've given to this is over.

Thank you again for your concern Brother @MadAsAHatter.

@MadAsAHatter sorry it wasn't "better news".

The boys don't seem to give two hoots, believing that we're A-OK.

Once again, I appreciate your input. Thanks mate.

No worries. Thanks for following up.
I think the classified's rules cover everything well enough including mod "liabilities".

I was looking more at the Manufacturers' Forum section having no guidelines and being so open ended. I agree mods and R/T should not be responsible for any activities between it's members. I'm sure a reasonable person would understand any implied standards as well; But you know how things can get if stuff isn't in writing; especially is some sort of dispute breaks out. On a grander scale think how eBay or Reverb gets dragged into buyer/seller disputes and somehow still takes blame in the public's eye even when they have written policies. Would suck for Rig-Talk or a mod to get dragged into a dispute without at least a basic CYA policy. Cover for that instance something happens and a party decides "it happened on your site, you're responsible," and there's nothing to dispute that otherwise.

I'm just one that has been proactive than reactive. What's the saying.? An ounce of preventative is worth a pound of cure.
I see it all the time at my work. The way I supervise my section I always put in a little extra work to address potential problems prior to them popping up. That way there's already a plan in place or just putting out a matchstick flame if something does come up. I watch every other section take absolutely no proactive steps to then only react when shit his the fan. At that point everyone is scrambling to put out a raging inferno when the fire could have been prevented with minimal effort.

I just spotted a potential oversight and was looking out for my fellow forum bros. If everyone thinks all is covered then that works for me. I appreciate you not blowing it off, taking my input seriously, and bringing it up to the other mods.

Cheers

Hear you 100% bro'.

If I had to guess I'd say the difference between us and eBay and reverb is that we don't charge a cent for ads.

Maybe that's the critical distinction in this case?
