Mostly just don't understand why someone would download my non downloadable song without having the master track to compare it to.
I'm not all pro on the mixes, but not an idiot either. It's soundcloud messing with the bitrate and eq so they can sell you back your own track :ROFLMAO:

100%. The first couple of times it happened to me where it was really obvious, it was tracks with really woody, complex low end and low mids - I.E., my analog synth stuff that I was messing with for a while. A couple of my tracks sound like complete ass on soundcloud, and I leave them up to remind me that I need to work around SC's limitations.

I think whatever they do affects those types of frequencies most, then the high end suffers the next most. I'm pretty sure it's targetted, as most people on soundcloud are rapper types who's music tends to focus on those freqs, as well as being the lowest info consumer possible for audio.

I am happy to have soundcloud to share my clips so easily. But i would love to not have ads

I might start using google drive exclusively - it doesn't seem to mess with your file AND doesn't have ads. The problem is the storage space is pretty low, and it's slightly annoying to share the files correctly.

I.am just glad it has so much free storage. That shit wont last, i promise

I feel like it's just a balance of storage to whatever.
Weird because it goes by minutes instead of file size.
100 minutes is the limit as far as I know, but doesn't matter if it's .wav or .ogg.
I would prefer storage capacity over minutes and just go with mp3 or something a give and take, because I have to delete and rotate tracks to share them.

I know your pain. Unfortunately I had a hard drive death recently, and soundcloud only allowing 100 minutes probably lost me my only copies of a few tracks.

In the end it's free, so I probably shouldn't be complaining.
It's just a bit disheartening to hear it streaming from them after putting time into everything.

Send that to me and I'll fix it!
Unless it's an ssd, then you'll have to ask the NSA :ROFLMAO:

Dude, I will! if you can salvage the audio files and especially the tabit and midi on that hard drive I would be BEHOLDEN to you, lisa

Basically all of my music for the past year has been without the benefit of my "stockpile" of riffs and ideas because of that hard drive

I'm pretty good at data recovery outside of overused solid state.
So if it's a mechanical hard drive, I can usually fix it more often than not.

I was thinking about my own tracks I have there, not yours. Sorry for the confusion.

The vast majority are, for sure - if they're listening at all

I listen to most peoples clips on my monitors or through my hifi system, just like I do with my mixes.

And it's funny, the vast majority of the time when someone has a couple of very specific complaints about your mix, you can almost guarantee they are listening on a cell phone

I am going for like an 80s sound instead of a modern sound 99% of the time, so when someone says my tone is too trebly, I know they are either listening on a phone or they only listen to hot topic metal
Well I really have only a couple options. An iPhone or a Macbook. Neither has realistic sound quality. It's better with headphones on, but some of us don't have a DAW or recording set up, much less one that we can take with us. I spend more than 2/3rds of my waking hours not at home. :dunno:

Yeah in those situations the best option is always headphones, at least if you wanna seriously listen to something

Headphone technology has advanced immensely since the dark ages when we were young, thank god

thank god
He had nothing to do with it.

I miss my old hi-fi set up. Fucking digital music made everything easier, but I ain't so sure it's better. I like having whatever I want at my fingertips, but I long for the days of spinning vinyl on an old turntable powered by a nice old tube receiver.

I had to compromise. I hook my computer up to a really nice old hifi system (NAD receiver, advent bookshelves, sub) but I have vinyl, too.

I hate the sound of modern speakers. I just don't think they sound good.

It's always cool to see clips posted in RT! I have a couple of hours today (I hope) and been meaning to hook up a 6505 100 watt my buddy gifted me last weekend. believe it or not I have never actually had a chance to play with a regular old 5150/6505 before so I'm looking forward to it.

So I'm used to drum jam style, someone will post a 2 minute drum midi or wav and everyone just record their own take/riffs on it. To me that seems more like a challenge since everyone has common ground... so for this everyone just makes up whatever beats/riffs comes to mind?
