You got a picture of that? I'm wondering if it's just a TRRS, but I haven't dug very far.

A picture of what? The three trs footswitchable jacks on my amp, the TS input and the TS effect send and TS effect return?

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about brother 🤣

Man, I wish I could use a hyrax for all my cabling in my live rig. Or a TRRS for that matter, that would certainly make things less spaghetti
Is something like Loom out of the question?

Or a DIY harness? A buddy just zip-tied all his cables into one big one.

I've already done both of those things :ROFLMAO: Neither lasted very long before getting beat to hell, twisted up, or otherwise ruined

Both also take up 20 times the space of a snake. That's why I was looking at getting a legitimate snake made, but so far the only quotes i've had are between 300-400 dollars. Which at those prices I might as well just jimmy rig something with another type of cabling - I.E., ethernet or 9 pin or something

That's a tough one man, is that unreasonable depending on the quality of the cables and the time involved? I assume most of that cost is in materials?

No the materials are relatively cheap, it's the expertise in making it long lasting and bulletproof that is expensive

gotchya, that makes sense. From the sounds of that Hiwatt clone you made, you should just make it yourself honestly then man.

I've been running analysis plus cables for sometime now. The local shop owner here did some comparisons for me and was surprised I heard a difference with their fucking power cable lol. It was subtle but I heard it. He let me take home some analysis plus instrument cables and speaker cables to see if I could hear a difference... as a late night silent recording mofo using headphones mainly for recording I could tell a difference. I don't think most will hear it though nor give a shit lol. But yeah, I have 4 or 5 expensive speaker cables and one of their instrument cables and one of their gold oval power cables too...

I have a buddy that lives in Hawaii and he had a similar thing happen. Shop owner wanted to thank him for setting up a business deal and gave him an analysis plus cable of some kind. I don’t think he’s used it yet but we googled the price and wow. Shop owner swears by it though. This stuff is crazy

I had one of those gold monster cables for my guitar about 15 years ago. I did notice a slight difference compared to the 15-dollar cables but to me I wouldn't consider it a game changer. The monster cable seemed to be a little clearer sounding compared to the regular cables but for me, it's not worth the price of paying $60 vs $15.

Matt do you know if they do custom 1/4" snakes?

I need a (at least 20') 3 TS/3TRS quarter inch snake for my live rig/board and the quotes I've gotten so far have been ludicrous even for cheap cabling.

I’m sure they do…I know they do custom stuff. Send them a message. Their prices are definitely the best I’ve found for the quality of cable they use. Plus they turn it around very fast. They have good sales every now and then, so I usually wait for those as well.

Nice, i'll check them out. So far the quotes i've gotten have been ludicrous, even for middling quality components, so i've been dragging my heels even though it's one of those things that would make my live stage setup a million times faster and easier. I hate it when you get "fuck you" quotes - instead of just saying, "no we don't offer that service," you give someone an insane quote to chase them away.

MJT has done that to me with a couple refin and finish projects.

Was this for 3 ts and 3 trs on each end or 3 ts into 3 trs?
The latter seems weird unless some sort of adapter.

The former. It's literally just a snake run from my last pedal into my input, my fx loop, and the three TRS jacks to footswitch everything on the ENGL.

As you can imagine, it's a shit ton of cabling to set up at every gig, including the one I played tonight.

So, is this the same premise and reality that causes hi-fi audiophiles to plunk down tens of thousands of dollars on speaker cables??

I always figured it was Bs
After experiencing the Van Den Hul instrument cable I picked up a Van Den Hul speaker cable, and in that case I cannot tell a difference A/Bing. I asssume that once the signal is powered it doesn't matter.

Have a good show I hope?

I think a speaker cable matters but there is like a wall of how good it can be and what exact difference it can make at some point.

ImE it's hard to say that I noticed a big difference from speaker to speaker cable if any and if there were it was very marginally small.
