I find it odd so many of the BAD SLO-100's are for sale used literally new in the box.

Used in general maybe yes but not NIB with less than 5 hrs playing time.
Its as if the SLO buyers bought the hype only after dropping $4500 to realize "this amp sucks."
 
Some players have never played a Soldano SLO or couldn’t afford one or are having a hard time trying to find one to play so they order it on line then try it and it’s not what they were looking for or it didn’t have enough of this or that so they return it or they are having financial issues or something and then sell it. In my opinion it’s the Lamborghini of amps,I’ve played many so called boutique amps and the SLO is amazing. The build quality is second to none.

Different ways to look at it. It could be they are selling really good and naturally there are more used ones available as it grows. Quick amp search on Reverb shows 686 results for Friedman, 102 Diezel results, 191 for Bogner and 428 for Soldano. I tend to look at these as barometers for popularity and how big the companies are. Marshall has 2,259 and Fender has 7,537 for comparison.

I think if the SLO models were a problem they would not have launched the rack versions. But I’m not an amp builder, just guessing.

A lot of these results are skewed a little by available Synergy modules that are part of the results.

It stacks up fine. There will always be originalists that are convinced Leo got it right in 1954 and everything there after is garbage.

Mike has said many times the BAD version was what he wanted to build for years, but lacked the ability to change over. The DeYoung argument is the most ridiculous of them all, for several reasons.

If you stand by the originals are best, you are implying Mike has sold out and is now a liar. Why would you want an original from such a person?

Hmm, perhaps because I bought mine 27 years ago new, been happy with it and just haven’t had a chance to play the BAD SLO version yet.
