I've never had the opportunity to try a JAMES TYLER pickup, let alone a JAMES TYLER guitar.
going with the jts5500 neck and middle for my tyler refurb. turned a buddy onto Tylers a few years back and created a monster!
currently borrowing his alien guano with those and a california special hummer in it, and at first i was on the fence about the tone of those pus.
but then i dialed in the height—specifically dropped the middle pu to the deck and played with the neck pu height and bass to treble tilt angle—and they came alive! and with the midboost it does lots of tricks!
he now also has 3 other tylers-another guano, a barnfind tylerbaster, and a mij quilted top that play and sounds amazing.
the holmes 450 humbucker is technically Tom’s neck pickup i use in the bridge of my Classic so there’s that.
two of my other friends here own burning waters. one has an earlier 10 yr(?) anniversary model with classic stack neck/middle and plays like a dream
and the other got his a couple of years ago from wildwood and he loves the thing
also got to play the Huff at LA Vintage in jan which was cool
