Actually he’s just saying that people are evil and twisted no matter what day they pray. These holy books are also written partly by theses same adulterers, thieves and child molesters and traffickers. Organized religion is only about control. The minute people saw the power in explaining away unknowns under the guise of powerful imaginary beings to a group, it began. A method of controlling and profiting off a population. Hence why such harsh treatment was doled out to those who didn’t “believe” or pay tribute.
Even today some Muslims believe apostates should be killed.

There are truths to both of these, and is a reality that still exists to this day on certain widespread levels. Have witnessed it first hand over many years of Orthodox Christianity where it's still taught that it's okay to treat women like slaves and that our sole purpose is to be subject to men's desires to the point where a 50s housewife is made to look like an unhinged toxic feminist. It's actually pretty disgusting and those who are deeply involved in it believe that all women are their subjects, not just their wives. Children included. These things are taught by those who dare speak on behalf of God.

I didn't state that at all. I simply said your view of history was quite narrow, and not based in historical facts.

Kind of like the secular technocrats tried to railroad me and my wife out of a job cause we didn't "believe" the vaccine was safe and effective? So we see the lust for power and control may draw some to the church to exploit that, but it doesn't define the Christian religion.

I agree that this is an issue - but I think it's a very separate issue from what Dave is talking about

The fact that this is common in Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Catholic priests, etc is very effective cover for the even more institutionalized, socially accepted "secular" version of it - in fact, it works so effectively that they don't even have to hide it. They just say it openly.

Was just responding to the posts with my personal experiences. So, maybe it was off topic? Will watch it and see what he has to say.

you don’t know they’re secular at all but I’m saying there is no group, religion, social or economic class that doesn’t abuse and take advantage of people for their own gain. Religion was just one of the first methods to do so on a large scale. Somewhat Nihilistic I guess, but as a species we are basically pieces of shit when compared to the rest of animal life on this planet. All our supposed heightened intelligence is for naught as we bath in self importance at the expense of others.

You should watch that movie again bro. I remember watching that movie with my old man easily 50 years ago. Point being I’ve seen it so many times I can literally recite every bit of dialogue verbatim from memory. Wales didn’t live for the feud. He was looking for peace after the war. He just knew no matter what the feud would find him and he was adequately prepared.


I guess I’m not really disagreeing with you much. I just rarely pass up a chance to talk about that movie. It’s the best movie ever made in my opinion. Disagree with me and I’ll womp ya with a knotted plow line. 🤣🤣🤣

I'll go further and say that quite a bit of push as far as the public attention and outreach has come from the gay and lesbian community speaking publicly about abuse they suffered in their youth now that they are granted a public voice in society.

Yeah but what's the crux of your argument? Certain people are drawn to positions of power inside politics, the church, a job, relationships etc it doesn't really matter what. Many people who have no power were able to unleash their inner dictators during covid with teh mask stuff. Just because scum is drawn to a place they can exploit doesn't mean the place itself is evil, or a negative.
