Proof the Earth is round

It is only logical that a boat on a curved earth can only travel downhill from it's current location, since everything is curving away from it on a ball. I'm not sure why that is a source for amusement from you but that is the logical conclusion of a ball earth.

Over large scales water does curve - take the Pacific Ocean for example.
Me and Dan Gleesak discussed that in depth. It doesn't matter the size of the body of water, there is supposedly a "curve" at 8 inches per mile squared which means 3 miles of water has six feet of curve, which is something a lay person can easily see is a falsehood.

Too small a scale to see it bonehead.

So now you're denying the scientific way earth's curve is calculated? It's 8 inches per mile squared. 3 miles means six feet of curvature, which is obviously ludicrous, lol But there are websites where unscientific types like you can visit that do the calculations for you.

@NowYou'rePlayingWithPower Honestly there's no hope.

Well, you know you can't have a ball earth and gravity, apparently. So, let me completely dismiss one of those things so that a ship should be rolling down hill on the ocean instead of understanding that the affect of gravity at sea level is the same everywhere at sea level. Gravity is crackpot bs and has absolutely nothing to do with the reason that we can see stars behind the moon or sun that are not within a linear view. Despite being able to measure it and accurately predict it's effects, it doesn't exist.

I just don't believe it is beyond our grasp or that there are any secrets in it's workings that are beyond understanding.
Same here sis'.

Was it Einstein who said that the only incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it's comprehensible?

Order is... everywhere. Laws are consistent.

I personally lean towards intelligent design when looking at the universe with my current understanding of reality.
Again, same here.

An open mind and logic. :dunno:

Yes same here - I didn't see what Lisa said until you quoted it. I agree with Lisa's comment on intelligent design.

BTW if you have a flat plane adjacent a sphere, the further from the center of the plane the farther from the center of the sphere.

I've looked out at the gulf of mexico/america at the beach and was able to see several miles of ocean running north to south. There was never six feet of curve. Other than the waves, it was ruler flat at the horizon.

There is no way 1 5/8" is a significant number for a structure that size. It could be bent. Construction defect if not expected variation. Foundation shifting, etc.

Apparently railroad engineers laugh at the idea that they need to take curvature into account when designing railways 100's of miles long.

It doesn't equate to the 8" per mile squared calculation at all since the middle span between the towers is 4200 feet according to google.
