This is not a metal amp

I know nothing about this amp, but the first thing I'm hearing is no depth pot. Hence the tight clanky sound. Adding a depth pot ala Cameron would help this sound a lot better.

What kinda gear expert mics the speaker in the angled section of a slanted cab? Apparently he don't know what the hell he's doing.

I just think Marshall doesn’t get it ever . Like I’d like to see which amp or tone they use as the basis to create their amps now . Like why not hire Jeremy who makes MOAB and great modded Marshalls at this point , or Friedman . I love Marshall and have high expectations I guess

they did get it though, the DSL and JVM's are great. if a SD1 into a DSL dosent satisfy your marshall itch, i dont know if any marshall is gonna work

Hell, I really dug the SL-X. Getting it modded by Brent Gutierrez made it even better. I'd do that again before I bought one of these new Marshall heads.

IMO my only next Marshall move is a 46and2. Cheaper than the new "modded" Marshalls and definitely metalAF.

Just look at the gut shot photos. Marshall left out like 75% of the mod. That's why it sounds like crap. A "Jose mod" is more than just a pair of diodes, a MV, and a bright cap.

That said, this would make a great donor amp for some real mods haha

I have one . Great amp . But that was designed in the 90s . I like the JVM but I’m not going to say anything else about it lol . I think the jvm guys are mad at me . But I do like it in many ways . But it left me feeling let down in one way . But again its cool

Should get a little more beef/richness mic'ing one of the bottom two where the cab is full depth. Also the reason why the matching straight cab will generally sound better.
Meh, the internal volume of the cab is shared and heard regardless of a coupla of inches of inward slanted baffle. That cab is also the TV model (tall vintage) so it's a bigger cab.

If you watch the whole video, Ola actually gets it sounding pretty great and quite metal by the end. I like amps like this...which lack that modern compression and are very percussive in the lows and mids. Normally I'm in that compression camp but these tones are fun to play and incorporate.

I used to own a Budda Superdrive 80 head that was very much like this amp in that regard. Boosted and turned up loud...it ate up and would bury my other more modern voiced high gain tube amps in the live mix.
