I'm in the rare minority who loved the Rev Blue. Yes, it was different from the Rev 2 but thats what I liked about it. I did the KT88 mod to mine and it became an even bigger monster. Tightened up the low end some and added a nice air like quality to the highs. I agree with @MetalHeadMike though in regards to the polished highs. The amp reminded me of a Herbert to where it sounded like a record ready mixed and polished sound that made it a pain in the ass amp for live use, especially with its inherently ridiculous low end. Not enough aggression/teeth IMO but it still had a very nasty and unique sound like a drugged up Rectifier.

Im also a person who loves the Rev Blue, but theres only a few of us. I always boost mine.

I think the Ultra is almost exact to a blue with the density cranked in Uber mode

Sort of. I really wouldn’t say the rev 2 is necessarily tighter than the first version. The frequency of the depth seems different though. First version is overall a little darker and less upper mid emphasis. Rev 2 slightly brighter and reminds me more of a super modded Marshall. But every green Uber I’ve owned has sounded different and unique so it’s really just about finding one that speaks to the player, like any older amp

I had one. Didn't like it much. Didn't even bother to unpack it anymore after i moved- So i sold it.
 
I have a metal grill blue with leather handle and green jewel light
I love the rev blue.

Did not take boosts well, was a bit anemic, kinda flat/not inspiring and the Presence knob worked just like a normal Presence knob. Which for me was kinda the Trademark-Thing of the Übers. I did like the Blue with my Marshall MF280B cab. But i bought the matching Uber-Cab (rear-loaded) because of a slight matching head syndrome and it lost all of its punch and push and got lost in the "Mix" even with only a Drummer in the Rehearal Room. I will try something...one moment please :D

I love mine.. different beasts but both respectable.. much prefer both over the uber ultra. Several people I know sold the UU for the OGs… take that for what you will..

Heard on the band mix point. Was really surprised when I got buried by a peavey classic 30 combo. Wish I was kidding
 
i Have owned every uber from the first run of ubers to the current 6L6 uber ultra and to me none are better than the current one. The key to the first two versions lies in the Presence control. Huge variations of tone due to that one knob. Love the early ones but none are better to my ears than the current.

I would agree about the Ultra being the best. I've owned a Blue in the past and tried a green at a friend's, and, to me, the green sounded very similar to the Blue I used to own (granted this is like 10+ years beforehand... so, going off of memory). It had the same loose and overly dark/smooth character to it that I never really liked about the Blue.

I think a lot of the internet hype about the early ubers supposedly being the best is just that... hype.

sup Amp-ho lol I’m pretty blitzed…. But I’ll try.. My Rev Blue (EL34) is more what I grew up with (metalcore era).. very modern, synthetic, compressed, pre processed kind of sound- tight but brutal as hell like any of the uberschall’s bloodline… It’s my go to amp for everyday jamming.. I run it into my jcm800 1960b.. & I boost with an Ibanez TS10 (judge me) it gives me Parkways drive- Deep Blue & Tool 10,000 Days album vibes.. I believe that’s what Joe Barresi used during those days..

Rev Green son… That shits my baby.. A special beast… I didn’t understand the terms “Organic, raw, loose, or pissed off ” until I got it…It’s like you can feel the oscillation in the grind.. Very clear, open, & gritty at the same time.. not overly sustained & compressed like the blue.. That’s what makes the blue easy to play tho, I admit I play the blue regularly for that reason however I believe it lacks aggression in comparison.. The green is like a mustang with rabies you are trying to rein in.. Very loose & Punchy lows... I’m assuming most old heads into the Rev C/D/F Mesa Dual Recs & Original SLO100s love this kind of amp.. My green runs a lot hotter than my blue too. It’s running EH6AC7 tubes & can double as a space heater in the winter time… lol overall it’s my #2 amp & it stays in the family.

I personally prefer Reinhold’s take on how he wanted a dual rectifier to sound, & that’s not a shot at my Mesa brothers in anyway. Nor was my UU comment.. These now considered “vintage amps” just have some special things going on, & if you know you know. Hope this helps… 🙏🏽
