Modern delays

Anyone using anything like the Meris LVX for their main delays? All I can find is soundscape demos that is far from what most of us would use it for? If not the Meris then what other modern delay is there like it?

If you only want delay, the eventide stuff is great. You can get an H9 for dirt cheap now. The H90 is great but more expensive.

The meris is cool, but has a lot of stuff I never touch. Probably overkill if you’re not programming crazy ambient stuff.

What do you need your delays to do, and why do they need to be modern? Sounds like you´re looking for something simple, but maybe what you´re looking for is presets and such.

Source Audio Collider, does a decent job of emulate the Roland Space Echo and an Echoplex. Digital delay sounds great too.

The reverb algos are pretty great too. Best spring I've heard in a pedal (though I still use a real one).

I was going to say Tmeline. I really dig the El Capistan for the tape delay. I've been debating flipping the Timeline for the Volante.

Either way, Strymon is the answer.

i used to have the timeline and it is absolutely the grandpappy of all the delays out there imo.......but..........waaaayyyyyyyy too many options for my taste. its more complicated than the space ship (probably lol)

That's what I assumed when the OP said "modern". It's everything out there in one pedal with way more parameters than necessary. Modern.

oh well in that case yea timeline is the ticket for sure, i dont know what sound you cannot dial in with that thing

Strymon MX Big Sky
Strymon DIG
Eventide H9 or H90

I own all of these but a couple months ago I just started using my Axe-Fx III for time based effects with my amps and love it. So I’d recommend taking a serious look at the Fractal VP4.

There are so many good delays, I wouldn’t really worry about quality being an issue if I were buying. I’d look for the features I’d want. Simple pedal or something with lots of presets I can switch between on the fly, how deep would I want to tweak, etc…

The Meris gear looks cool but when I researched, it had so many things I was not looking for with all the shimmer and weird things it can do.

I gave up on pedal delays years ago. Fractal ones are sooo easy to dial in and you get scenes where I have 4 variations per pre set. Your welcome!! :m17:

For pedals - Source Audio Nemesis on my big board, Strymon Timeline on my smaller board. Can't go wrong with either. Switching presets is really the issue for me and why the Nemesis (which I prefer it's pristine digital delay) is on my big board with the midi switcher. Non midi smaller board has the Timeline where I can switch between presets on a couple banks with the pedal. Both great units. Even more simple is the Keeley Halo, owned one for a bit I where I was going to build a super small board lol, it sounds great as well.

I very nearly bought the Fractal VP4 awhile back but not sure I'm up for anything else. If I was that'd be where I would start as I really like the layout and simplicity and Fractal delays sound good.

Tough to beat the flexibility of the H90 or the FM3–yeah more $$ but considering how much you get in the box IMO it’s worth the cost if you are someone who might frequent a board named ‘rig-talk’

Delay junkie here.
Love the old Lexicon/ TC 2290/ Roland SDE Rack Delays.
Went through a stupid amount of Delay Pedals searching for something that would get me close to those.
I currently have the Strymon DIG on my board, and nothing has knocked it off thus far.
Sounds Killer!
