Peaveys are all fixed bias.
I assumed an 800 clone would have a couple trim pots…or whatever….Peaveys are all fixed bias.
One piece of wire at r36…calls for a 1/4w 5% cf axle…. Wtf is that?
CF probably means carbon film type resistor, axial meaning it looks like a regular resistor with the leads coming out the ends, 5% meaning it will measure to within 5% of it's marked value, 1/4W meaning it can take that much power before it goes POOF!One piece of wire at r36…calls for a 1/4w 5% cf axle…. The ValveKings I've seen are the same. Non-adjustable fixed bias. I think Peavey just biased super cold so that no (or almost no) valve you put in would get too hot, but maybe someone else can correct me. It's been a bit since I worked through the schematics.I don’t see an adjustment or a point to check it either. Of course I’m a noob so….
Some are adjustable, some are not. The Windsor is not.Peaveys are all fixed bias.
FJA used to mod these into real fire-breathers. Jerry was the Peavey Magician. The only one I ever played was modded by someone I never heard of and it was really muddy. I have heard a few decent clips and I'm sure can be made to sound decent. How close are they to an 800 schematic wise?
Jason at headfirst has a video on it I think. One big difference between the windsor and jcm800 is that the windsor uses a cathodyne phase inverter while the Marshall uses a long tail pair. If Mr. Steve M. Fryette is to be believed, that'll change how it sounds when cranked. You can probably find mods on the Peavey forums to make the windsor preamp into an 800, or close to. I think I saw ones floating around. Supposedly the ValveKing is closer to an 800 if I remember correctly. The pv schematic is professional, clear and concise but damn…every Marshall one I find is harder to read…not that I can…. I really want to do that jake e Lee mod to it. On a Marshall it’s 10 components. I can’t trace the schematic to see what I need to do on the Windsor. I’m telling you the Windsor would be easy to work on…
Yeah, wasn't FJA, some pedal builder and amp modder but was probably local to MN or WI. Nobody I or anyone else here probably ever heard of. Hell, maybe they didn't do shit and stuck a sticker on the amp.FJA used to mod these into real fire-breathers. Jerry was the Peavey Magician.
I didn't realize he was caught up in the cancel culture like Mike Fuller. What did the FJA dude say? Was it something 100% true that was twisted into Nazi / White Supremacist bullshit by the freaks of our current society?FJA did okay stuff. His demise was making Nazi / White Supremicist comments on the forums that all blew up.
Good news is that type shit is normal nao. [pun]![]()
I don't remember any of that. I know he had some personal problems that had him off the grid for awhile. I know one was a woman he was with stirred up trouble, and he may have had some health problems at one point. This was probably 10 years or so ago?? I don't remember, but everybody is a nazi/white supremacist if you're not on the left these days.FJA did okay stuff. His demise was making Nazi / White Supremicist comments on the forums that all blew up.

not sure how he went off the rails. Something to the affect of threatning people with harm.I didn't realize he was caught up in the cancel culture like Mike Fuller. What did the FJA dude say?
