stupid question on setting bias

^ that's a great idea

I have a 4 socket all in one probe now, but I used to a single hooked up to a meter. I repeatedly wanted to just pull the probe out, with a live amp, to switch to the next socket

Luckily I didn't. You have to set aside time, take your time, breath deep, be methodical, and stay away from alcohol

no no no - biasing and general poking is about it, anything else goes to Steve at Gravity Strings in Soulard,

I don't know Steve and haven't been to Gravity since probably the late 90s or early 2000s. They're high as fuck and the shitty set ups they used to do to my friend's guitars spurred me to become my own guitar tech. The last guy who did a set up for me was Skip Goez in Maplewood and that was before the turn of the century. He had my 4001 for 3 months. He did re-wire it back to stock, but frankly I don't think he knew about the manually adjusting truss rods. He got it done and done right, but I waited on it for a long time. The cool thing about Skip and Jon, besides the fact that I have seen Paul McCartney's '59 Les Paul in person since it was in there being set up one time and I have actually played some guitars that belonged to The Little River Band that were in there one time, is that they were cool with me just hanging out and learning shit from them. Especially Jon. I think Skip was a stoner. He's surely dead by now. He was old as fuck then.

I never let anyone touch my guitars or basses anymore.

I would never take a guitar to Gravity. Shit hole. But Steve there did several mods on my Dual Rec including the Pre 500 C mod, serial loop mod, and replaced a cap, resistor, and a jack. I delivered it in a road case.

I've always used Carlos Bedoya. But then I always have Ampegs. He came out of SLM. Does great work. Takes forever and charges a lot, but not as much as Obeid. I had another guy do the reliability mod to my II Non Pro and caps and bias. He did a stellar job. Really fantastic. He's the son of one of my ex brother in law's buddies. But I can't find him anymore. Carlos is in a band with one of my old friends who used to have my band open for them all the time though, so I guess I'll take it to him next time. Not like I need it for a gig these days ( I always had spares).
