No Rest For The Wicked is my favorite. I think his playing went up a few notches on No More Tears but I prefer the songs on No Rest

NO REST FOR THE WICKED!
OZZY TO EARTH: "YER GONNA LOVE THE NEW GUY!"
ALMOST 40 YEARS LATER, THAT ALBUM IS STILL A SWIFT KICK IN THE BALLS.
G.O.A.T. LEVEL ALBUM IN THE HISTORY OF HEAVY METAL.

The songs are killer. It's a fuckin' scrappy and snarlin' record.

21 year old Jeff Wielandt of Jackson, New Jersey AKA Zakk Wylde stormed out of the gate with Miracle man, which is a Godzilla sized bitch slap and a hurricane all rolled into one. Zakk didn't sound like a clone, so people liked him for that right off the bat. His vibrato, WTF?! NOBODY had vibrato like that. NOBODY. EVER. Fucking amazing. Chops to burn, ballsy tones, and his riffs and solos sounded fresh. No cliches with this new guy. Ozzy had done it again, the Prince of Darkness had manifested another guitar hero. What was really cool, too, was that lot the metal guitarists were working on learning Zakk's guitar parts and techniques, because people RESPECTED and STUDIED Zakk's playing from the git-go.

I loved every song on that record. Still do.

No More Tears was a milestone for Ozzy and Zakk, absolutely.

No Rest for the Wicked is Ozzy Osbourne telling everyone "FUCK YOU, I DO WHAT I WANT. NOW CHECK THIS OUT!"

This link goes to the playlist for the entire album.

Ozzy's new guy Zakk, that kid did all right.

No More Tears. The fusion of country with 80s metal was just such a cool sound. And sonically, I think it's the best Ozzy album easily.

No Rest is a close second though. Zakk swung for the fences on his first call up at bat and knocked it outta the park.

Ozzmosis is third for me. There were too many outside songwriters and it showed. Same with Down to Earth. But Ozzmosis still has a ton of great Zakk riffery.

I also think the early BLS records are
really slept on. Sonic Brew is very much a successor to Pride & Glory, and the first few albums where Zakk sang with a man's voice are great greasy metal albums.

I remember right before I went into the Air Force, I was at my friend's house and "Crazy Babies" came on and I was blown away. Then I saw the "Miracle Man" video. It just felt like such an awesome fresh start for Ozzy and had all of this energy. No More Tears is great as well. I had thr other albums when they came out and liked them but just started feeling polished and too similar.

No more Tears for me and NRFTW second but Ozzmosis has great songs like Perry Mason. That riff is fat AF and the solo is typical Zakk masterclass.

Also no mention for live at Budokan ?

I was just thinking studio albums

I just noticed that several Ozzy songs have different titles now. S.I.N. is now known as "Won't Be Coming Home", and Devil's Daughter has an extra "(Holy War)" added to the title. What's the deal here?

Also, I listened to the remastered version of S.I.N. tonight, and it sounds a lot different than the original. I was never the biggest fan of the production of the original No More Tears, but this remastered version is worse. It sounds like it lost the 3-D sound the original had, and is more compressed.

If you listen to Ozzy chronologically the first song after Shot in the Dark is Miracle Man. There was no better riff to introduce Ozzy's new sound, or to introduce Zakk to the world.
