Thought some of you fine folks might like some random Plexi noodling on a Monday night. Playing might be a little rough but whatever, I like the way the amp is sounding right now, thought it would be fun to share.

Two clips, one on Hi Power mode and the other in Lo Power mode which makes the amp behave like it's on a variac turned down by about 25%. Both clips are boosted by around 10 db overall with a Boss style 10-band EQ, also set for a mid bump at around 2k or so.

Suhr SL68 - Lo Power - boosted with 10-band EQ

Suhr SL68 - Hi power - boosted with 10-band EQ

Edit:
Here’s another clip, details below. It’s a bit less saturated, more suited for tighter rhythms.

Suhr SL68 - Hi power - boosted - tighter brighter gain

Nice playing but that amp’s name is sexually unfulfilling.
Agreed. I propose we now call it the Suhr anal rape prolapsed rectum 68. ARPR68 for short. If they make an SL69 the jokes will write themselves. And sounds great, OP!

The single note stuff sounds good but the chords fall short. It definitely has its place! Nice job man.

Yeah I don't think chords through the amp are necessarily the best for tight metal, but they have a great bloom and a kind of snarl that's cool for more Rock type stuff. And yes "bloom" is a word used too often but I think it fits here.

Or maybe I just boosted too hard and mushed the amp up too much. :D

Even for rock i don't think it works in the clips you posted. Your description fits.

Sounds great to me.. nice work!

I’d like to hear it unboosted, and also with something like a Klon pushing it. Sounds kickass

I think it sounds fucking great and it’s one of the better clips that have been posted on the site in a while

What guitar and pick ups?

Thanks man!

PRS Custom 22 with an EMG 81 in the bridge.

Sounds cool to me, nice and squishy (lol)...but it does seem a little scooped for a plexi. What speakers/mic?

Sounds killer. Is that a MKI or a MKII? Makes me miss my SL67.

Nice work. It definitely has that 81 bite. I don’t think it’s a bad thing though, this would sit perfectly in the right mix.

I’ve been playing my SL67 a lot lately & really loving the old THD hot plate to knock off a few dB.

Good playing! I’m in between on the tone. I’m a Superlead lover/player too. For the most part it sounds good but when I try to record I get some similar traits that I don’t like. A little too squishy, I want it to feel squishy but not sound that squishy if that makes sense.

Thing is when I stand off-axis to the speakers it sounds killer. But that mic is right up on the speaker and gets everything. I have a makeshift baffle (literally poster board hung from a mic stand) right in front of my cabinet so I never hear the straight on speaker tone. It kinda works.

No speakers, just a reactive load box and speaker sim of a 4x12 greenback cab with some room reflections in post so it doesn’t sound so direct.
