I’ve spent years going through some very high end amps.
All were great in their own way but many had ‘something missing to me’ which was part of their signature sound.

Diezels, Bogners, Wizard, Soldano, Mesas, Framus to name a few

The Peavey 5150 was the amp I’ve played most in the past 20yrs before I started tone chasing more.

I’ve gone full circle and picked up a couple of new 6505s… man it feels like coming home.
Just amazing effortless amps.

In stereo with the rack sounds great and I’ve already written new material in the first 30min of playing these

The 6505 1992 original is the real deal. Sounds just as good if not better than the previous signature and block letter 5150 I used to have

Funny how tone chasing can go full circle

The original 5150/6505 is still my favorite of all the 5150 series. I didn't really like the+/II just the OG. Crunch channel is my jam can even get a decent brownish sound and boosted it fucks! Still in my top 5 all time.

Tell me about your cabs! I finally after all these years bought a 6505+ combo that I’m running into a 4x12. Never had one before and never really messed with one. I really like it.

Stereo huh? Make sure to get yourself one of @griff10672's JackBootedChorus pedals or five, and to run them with the GROUND LOOP control maxed out.
I was gonna comment about his amateurish wiring job but didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. If you need any help setting up your rig holla….

That is amazing. If you can, please tell us more about how the 6505 1992 and current 6505 II compare to each other and to other 5150s.

Sweet setup.

Locally made here in Australia. Very high spec and heavy, very similar to Mesa and Engl cabs.
These ones have X pattern of V30s and T75s. The T75s are taken from an early 90's Marshall cab.

I'll have to spend some time comparing the 1992 and the ii. I can come back to you. The mid range definitely sits lower on the 1992. The only other 5150's I've played are the Peavey block letter and signatures.
^ Yes this. I want to get one but don't know which to get. Only played a 6505 briefly years ago
I'll try and throw some sound samples comparing the 2. Both are great. I lean more towards the 1992 I think but it's probably more because i'm more used to that sound.

Actually the audio cables are all made to length.
It’s my DC cables that are a rats nest 🤣.

And I love it, I had an ‘insta board’ that I wired perfectly and it felt too pretty. Fuk that, wasn’t rock n roll

That’s the exact stereo setup I used to run. A block letter and a 5150 II. Still have the 5150 II.

They do feel like home if you have the room to crank them up a bit. They just work. It’s hard to explain.

Ran a sig in the 90’s for a few years and for just plugging straight in and rockin’ a heavier sound it was great. It took me years to finally get into boost pedals. I was into straight in for the longest time.

Love it man . I toured with a 5150II for years . Never had a problem or blew a tube . Clean tone is not a fav . I have a Stealth 100 watt 6l66 and use it live a lot but I do miss . The original design has more grind . I miss that amp . Why did you get both . I missed that part . Rushing

I got the ii as I thought the mids would sit higher then my 2ch recto and give me a different tone

I loved the ii so much and started to miss my OG 5150.
So ended up getting the 1992 also.

I’ve been loving that mid range grind again

Easier to run stereo fx with 2 amps that are nearly the same design too. I basically use 1 amp as a 2nd power amp in that setup
