This is just gay pop-science PR shit. It's literally click-bait. NASA constantly does this, any scientific org that is filled with meaningless bloat does this as part of funding efforts.

Nah.
It does happen. There is plenty of AI bullshit out there and knee jerk headlines, but this isn’t one of them.
This story broke a year ago, I probably even did a thread on it.
Then nothing that whole time because they were actually studying it.

If the US doesn’t want to invest in space, China will just take over. Makes no difference to me

Hank Green is a great resource for people who don’t really like science to learn about science

It definitely is.
People like to talk about inhabiting mars some day, but it’s almost inconceivable that earth could ever become as inhabitable as Mars is now
Big moves being made on moon property right now. Mars, far away. Lots of red ugly sand...wierd faces that nobody wants to go to. Horrible Earth views...looks like a small dot. Complete disaster. Moon, way closer to home. More aesthetic gray outdoors. Beautiful views of Earth. Giant blue ball outside your window.

The biggest thing the moon has going for it is to be a “truckstop” of sorts.
(Eventually) Easy to get from earth to moon.
Hard to get from earth to mars.
Easy to get from moon to mars.

If they find frozen water on the South Pole of the moon it’s gonna be game on

Personally i think the Galilean moons are way more interesting, but again way hard to get to

I was surprised how nice a lot of Jersey was when I moved to PA and spent some time exploring

1. NJ
2. RI
3. MA

Even if you aren’t into space, NASA has invented tech for many things that contribute to comfortable living in our every day lives
They have not, to my knowledge, done anything amazing in 50 years.

I think Elon, in his short history has done more incredible things.

I think you’d be surprised what their tech is behind now.
then again their budget basically vanished in the 70s and never came back

Finding those possible bio-signatures in situ with an absence of the conditions required for them to not be biological is pretty eye opening.

I see no advancement in space exploration. We went to the moon 50 years ago and have gone no where since.

I think you would be surprised by the amount of money they do get.

They have become just another bloated gobernment agency.
