Played my Gibson Explorer after a long break

So been playing my Malmsteen Stratocaster for the last few years mostly but now dug out my '16 Explorer and it is one killer guitar! The neck feels so wide compared to the YJM Strat but after getting used to it the Explorer feels so frigging good to play! Any Explorer fans here?

I have the ebony one but I've always liked white Explorers as well. It is one of the most balanced guitars, both, when playing sitting down or standing up.

I made a similar HW change for my Flying V and these are like evil cousins with their blacked out HW. Did not make these changes for my ebony LP Custom although I have black tuners and bridge waiting in my closet.

So cool, I'm jealous--I've been searching for an Explorer with a big fat neck for about a decade. Closest I've come is the '58 Korina RI and I am not dropping $8k on a guitar.

Dont have a Gibson, but here is my Dean '79 Z. I upgraded it to SD Livewire Dave Mustaine pickups.

Agree! I am still a bit disappointed that the 80s Explorer and its replacement I bought a few months ago were poorly built by Gibson so I returned both to the shop. The shop had no more of those in stock so I took my money back. Would have been killer with black HW.
