I'm not convinced a civil war even could happen now. We're idealistically divided, but the American Civil War owes a lot of its origins to geographic divisions as well as idealistic ones. Maybe in a generation or two, we'll see more geographic division as people migrate toward areas of their particular political beliefs.

Plus, as @Geo so succinctly pointed out, a lot of Americans tend to be lazy fucks who can't be bothered to leave the couch, let alone the home.

I would say the Left seems to be the ones craving it. The left Left. Not the middle (moderates). But we know who would win - and without government intervention. I'd be fine with giving them the East and West coasts. East coast maybe down to North Carolina. Sorry @rsm but you would be safe in South Carolina - especially on an island. West coast but not eastern WA or eastern Oregon. The people in Chicago can go to Canada People in MN and AZ will need to convert.
