I think I got something good cookin'....

Well it was a fun trip. I tried a few semi hollows, mostly a bunch of dead ass sounding overpriced junk but I fell in love with a very alive cherry red 335. $3500!!! Not sure how to afford that but dammit son I can't get her outta my head....

I tried a Les Paul Supreme, not sure what the deal was, it was thicker than a regular LP. Like a fat LP. Nice, but wasn't a cherry 335....

I tried a bunch of used PRS'. Maybe I should've worn tan pants. A couple of them were nice but I was surprised how thin the solid bodies were. Ain't no way I'm paying 4g's used for a thin PRS with a blushed out finish. It sounded real nice but one of the used cheaper ones that looked like a fruit roll up was pretty equivalent sounding tbh.

But what amp did you play through?

Something appropriate for neo-soul music, a special edition Vox AC10.

Was actually a dang nice sounding amp for something like just playing around the house. It was actually a little beefier sounding than the regular AC10 my friend owned, as the cab is a bit larger.

I should have a fun thread tomorrow for all but about 3 people here if the good Lord's a' willin' and the creek's don't rise.

I had a sneaky suspicion you were going to say that. Regarding Vox. Figured you'd at least find an AC15 :dunno:

Good luck with the new gear. I wish my creeks would rise. We are dry as f up here. :(

They mostly had a bunch of digital modeling junk and I didn't wanna look like some tan pants TGP refugee plugging into that stuff.

Same deal down here. Very dry.

I'd love to have one of their lap steels with the string benders but $$$.

They have a bunch of used PRS' there right now including a nice 594 kinda like @JackBootedThug green one. Some really nice guitars.

I found my used CU22 at GC. Whoever traded it in had never played it. I got it for a steal.

Most of the used PRS' there right now are priced 3k and up. I played a bunch of them, really nice guitars but a couple of them had some tubby sounding pickups. I'll detail some more later. Any pro-tips on what PRS pickups are the good ones? The 85/15 "s" pickups in an SE Custom 24 I tried seemed really promising. I really dug that guitar....

I like the 58/15s. My CU22 has 57/08s which also seem pretty good to me. I can't remember what's in my CU24. I'll have to check.

I wanted to get one of the 24 Standards with the new DMO pickups, but that's lower on my purchase list for now.

Thanks Neuby.

I went to guitar kenter again tonight....

This has turned into a long story, starting with a few days ago when my wife brought home my law degree after going to guitar kenter again without my knowledge:

It was a sweet axe and I want to be a lawyer someday but right now I'm just a bluesman with an interest in neo-soul so I had her return it.....

I def DIG the wide-thin neck, awesome feel. I'm going to get PRS to make a 335 with it one day...

Look on their website, for used gear at other locations; if you buy something you can have it shipped to your local store, and return it right there if it's not what you want
