That's too funny, I've seen his reactions before just by happenstance

He seems knowledgeable about theory and all that but some of his takeaways from heavy music are hilariously boomer-worthy

I.E. "wow Megadeth has amazing musicianship but his voice is off-putting" and "golly I don't like fast double bass drumming that sounds like a helicopter"

No shade as I'm sure he's just doing what he has to do to pay the bills, but reaction content is probably on an even lower level of banality than "gear shilling" channels by "musicians"

I like how you started this post sharing some common ground with the person you quoted, then moved onto a complimentary nature mixed with mild criticism while providing real world examples of the subject matter at hand without going off the deep end. Glenn Fricker only looks at things through the lens of recording. He can barely play, so his expertise and opinions about everything else amount to a huge mountain of monkey shit. The younger kids and retards take what he says as gospel because he has so many followers on YT. His opinions about guitars and amps are laughable.

@thegame - don't get me wrong. I like Kyle. He tries to demo lots of stuff through a standard set up. He did a bunch of Splawn demos I really liked and then he started liking Rectifiers so it was interesting to me to watch this transition. I like his fellow guitarist in Brushido Code even more. But his little quirky smiles and that one chord he plays ALL the time just ground me down.

But what really did it, was when he started to get all cranky and defensive about his YT comments and comments people made here on Rig-Talk. He used to hang out quite a bit but no longer. He changed as far as I can tell

i think totally the opposite, i find most all his info totally solid, especially for the younger guy recording in his bedroom, which is the majority of his audience. his demos and comparisons showing you dont need top of the line gear to sound good i think is what noobs need to see. his tutorials and interviews with guys like Andy Sneap are informative even for people that know what they are doing. i dont think you can amass the number of followers he has by pushing a bunch of bullshit

but why then dont all the "good" youtubers who arent annoying and have actual good info have the same kind of numbers he does?? how many videos do i see people posting here outraged at what he says, then i watch the video and im like hes totally correct, what am i missing causing this outrage?? oh, the clickbait title? i love watching all youtubers trying to learn something, i can tell you watching as many as i do that glenn has most every recording trick ive seen from all of them covered on his page, and many times with the engineer who came up with the idea explaining. to me that is wonderful information worth a sub, to everyone here though its laughable bullshit

He does push bullshit because, like I said, he only looks at everything through the lens of recording. He refutes anything else outside of that scope which is wrong in my book. That's his niche, and that's how he makes his living.
