So, the Schecter standard series is redonkulous...

For the price, wow. The guitar plays great and the neck is just unbelievable. One of the best bolt ons I've played. The roasted maple and satin finish is very, very nice, After conditioning and oiling the rosewood fretboard it's looks just as dark as my ebony boards. Nice solid tight grains and little to no porus areas. The jumbo frets are great, with some sharp edges that are slowly receding with the warmth of my hand and temperature acclimation. So I will wait before giving them some treatment.

The graphite nut is cut and set nicely as well. No belly cut or arm contour on the body either. They even used a gold font for the Schecter MIC wording on the back of the headstock so that it blends in nicely without being an eyesore. I also like that they don't bother with putting the model name on the guitar. (PT Standard)

It was nice to get a burl top with some figuring and those classic "rusty bubble" patterns.
The stock black chrome covered passive pickups are surprisingly adequate. Bridge measured at 13.79 while the neck is 10.49. The have no Schecter label on the underside and they are simply listed as Schecter Diamond series. I'm thinking there are A5. Not bad at all for Chinese OEM. But as originally planned, EMGs will be getting installed.

The guitar chugs nicely with its mahogany body and notes absolutely leap off the freeboard. Currently tuned to drop C# with DR Tite Fit 10-50. This guitar definitely scratched and satisfied that Charvel itch I had. Same vibe.

Agreed, I was impressed when I played one at my local guitar-shop-that-actually-gives-a-rats-hat-about-making-sure-the-instruments-are-playable-off-the-wall.

Congrats on the STD . But you should have went all out and bought the HPV series . Bumpy fretboard though lol

You know I meant SS frets and not a dual single-coil configuration, right?
No I thought you meant super strat. Fret material isn't mentioned but they don't exactly feel like nickel either. There's a certain bright response to them that I just passed off as them being new. I've only ever bought used guitars the past decade or more. This is my first new axe in years...
Some less expensive guitars haaaave been getting released with SS frets the past few years so they very well could be.

Haven’t seen that finish on the Avenger. And it’s only 400?! Holy shit. I might need to scoop one. Congrats!
Schecter's low and mid tier Avenger shapes have always been beginner level crap in base black or whatever. I've always loved the shape but the ones I liked either were too expensive, had a trem, or both.
This overhauled standard series has only been available for 10-11 months, so it's still relatively new.

Yeah cool and all, but for fuck sake I curse Schecter everyday for not delivering anything with their V-1 shape.

Also, I believe this forum (and too many others) do not consider their USA line as viable option, which is a shame

Yeah cool and all, but go photo bomb your own NGD thread lol!

Ah thanks brother.

Yeah, I'm tippin' the difference you're hearing and feeling is due to the fact that the new nickel frets are polished and you prolly haven't done yours in years. The thin layer of oxidation tends to make bends feel "rough" by-comparison and knock off a bit of sizzle in the sound.

If it's not in the blurb, they won't be SS 'cause they'd be making a song and dance about it otherwise.

Thank you again for clarifying brother.
