I want a DeMartini Frenchie as bad as anyone, but I'm not paying almost $3k for a guitar will effectively be not much better than the $800 Pro Mods I already have. I have a new Les Paul Standard and Heritage H535 that both cost less and are waaaay more instrument.
That Guthrie Govan-via-Greg Howe-by-way-of-George Lynch sideways vibrato has become such a fusion cliche now. It was cool when Lynch and DeMartini did it, and also Howe, but now everyone and their Youtube buddy does it because it seems like in order to be one of those "smart" new shredders...

The Loomis models kick ass. Definitely the best Duncan actives I've ever heard. They really do have a more passive-like feel and response, yet with the punch of actives.
I still love the good old EMG 81, though. It does what it does better than almost anything.
I love my two MIM San Dimas models. I've tried the older MIA and USA versions, and the current USA Selects, and these are right there with them. I have no desire to change anything on them. The necks are glorious.
The Jeff Loomis and Livewire Classic singles do not suck, as far as Duncan actives go.
I like EMGs. I don't want them in all of my guitars, but I appreciate what they do. The 81 is a one-trick pony, but it kicks ass in the right environment. I have an 81TW (dual sound version) with SA neck and...
Same. It's a pretty bland affair, no standout great tunes or really hilarious lyrics. Can't even think of a Satchel solo that stands out. My favorite song might be Now The Fun Starts, because it's pretty different to everything they've done, a moody midtempo kinda thing.
I think they've either...
That's an RG350 I turned into a clone (minus monkey grip and claw). It kicks ass and I'm sure sounds just as good with the JB/Jazz swap. $3500 is insane.
