How would you have handled this neighbor

Hell with that guy. I'd be embarrassed to tell my neighbor my kid will do it but he wants $50. Kids a dick as well. I'd tell the neighbor to F off as well. You did the right thing

Yes please. We need to know all the deets.
Yes, he hammered posts into the sides to keep the telephone pole from moving. suing him. This is a very long story. We’re still in discovery. This guy is such a liar, he doesn’t even have a basic grasp of the objective facts. Next up is his deposition. It was postponed a couple times, but hopefully will be soon. This all went down in the summer of 2021. The civil court system runs very slow. I’m hoping to get it over this year.
We share part of a driveway. Our house is “landlocked.” We have a deeded right of way and ingress/egress easement over the part of the driveway that’s “joined.”
This is not even his house, it’s his mother’s house. Our house was built in 1985. Their house was build in 1986, and his mom and dad moved in in 1987. So, this has been a shared driveway/easement for 40 years. Long story short, this guy pops up out of nowhere a few years ago and didn’t like that we shared his momma’s driveway.

Looks like a lop of shit to me.

This is the shared driveway. The part that’s joined is on his dirt, but we have a deeded easement across it. This is a really long story. He did some pretty evil stuff aside from all this. He had my 73 father arrested before this. He lied and said my father tried to hit his mother with the phone when my father had gone up to talk to her before all this went down. The case against my father was dismissed. No police ever came and got my father’s side of the story. Crazy how little it took to have someone arrested.
My father is a disabled veteran who's never even had a speeding ticket. He fretted for a long time after this happened that another police officer was going to come and take him to jail over a lie for a long time. I tried my best to convince him that would’ve happen, but he said it happened before, so he had a point. The other picture is of my father having a panic attack the day the telephone pole was placed over our driveway. He has legitimate PTSD from Vietnam.
My family, my wife and three children, moved in with my father in 2020 after my mother died in 2018. She drowned on her birthday. My dad had several heart attacks in 2019 and was I. The hospital for several months, so we moved in with him to help take care of him.

That's crazy.

Man. Sorry all that happened to you brother. Good on you taking care of him. You're a good son.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. The loss of my mother has been devastating. I’m a Christian as was she, so knowing where she is makes it much more bearable. I will honor her as best I can by living like she taught me and by taking care of my father as best I can.

I got a chainsaw that says that phone pole wouldn't have lasted ten minutes.

This is what our society has been reduced to. So much idle time cops and neighbors find stupid stuff to turn into a major issues. I had one karen neighbor down the street try and do this same thing to my next door neighbor using a chain. He clipped the chain, kept it for himself, and called the sheriff.

Sorry you are enduring such a debacle.

We had our friend from church come and saw it up. Our lawyer advised us not to touch it. We’ve done everything possible to show we are not the aggressors in this. My father has really helped me keep my calm and composure in all of this. When he was being arrested and handcuffed in his own driveway, I wanted to tear into my neighbor like nothing I’ve ever wanted. But if I had, I would’ve been arrested myself for assault and could’ve lost my security clearance in the process. My dad has really taught me patience in all this. The whole thing has been a lesson in patience from God, honestly. It’s all so dumb, too. We’re good neighbors. My mother took his mom and dad medicine when they were sick, and food out of our garden over the years. We could’ve been good neighbors to him, but this is the way he’s chosen. It’s sad, really.

Dude… where you live? I would be willing to come have a talk with this dude. Fuckin scumbag. They only do this shit because they think they are safe. Nobody is safe. Sorry I’m ranting. You’re a better person than me bro. Trust me when I say that.

I learned a long time ago to never ask God for patience. He will teach it to you. Fear God. But your neighbor is as wrong as two boys fuckin. He needs a beat down for doing that shit. Damn I’m mad over this bro. Especially with your dad suffering from this shit. Take him and the police to federal court for violating your father’s civil rights. Thats what it is.

We’re suing him. It’s been in litigation now for almost 3 years. Slow process, for sure.

I don't think you had any other choice unfortunately. It'd be nice if he just woke up and realized he needs to drop the beef.

Mr. Willy I'm really sorry for the loss of your mother. Your post about her was weighing on me last night as I listened to the rain pour down all night long. I was praying for her soul and your family this morning. I hope you guys are well.

you’re a better person than me as well! I would’ve been out there with my chainsaw immediately!

Thank you for that, sincerely. It’s been very hard. We were very close.

She went for a swim in the ocean on her birthday and drowned in a freak accident. She had texted me the morning scripture that she always sent along with a picture of the beach and water. I told her to be safe and that I loved her. That was the last time I ever spoke to her.

I know that she is with Jesus, and that gives me tremendous hope and encouragement. I would be bitter and full of anger if not for that.

I really appreciate your kind words. Truly.

It’s been a lesson for me in patience and letting vengeance belong to the Lord, truly. Watching my father being handcuffed in his own driveway was almost more than I could bear. He talked be down while he being arrested from beating my neighbor on the spot. Had I done that, I would’ve been arrested and jeopardized my security clearance and my career. My father is a much better man than I am.

I have nothing but respect for you. You acted correctly. I don’t think I could have handled that situation though. If those officers showed an ounce of disrespect…I don’t even want to think about it.
