There have been a pretty good number of discussions about him on this forum so a search would help you find some of them (a lot of good discussions/examples of the mods).
One thing to note is the amps with his mods usually get sold pretty quickly (if you were able to find any of the old for...
About 8 years ago Sam Ash had stopped offering the killer incentives to purchase things from them.
You spend this much ...... and you get this item, and if you spend this much ...... and get this item, .......
They would send out $200 off, $300 off, $400 off, ...... all the time plus they...
I might be interested in just one as well (maybe more after getting one of them).
What is special about them?
I know you can completely change up your tone/feel on an amp/preamp by switching out preamp tubes, so I am curious/interested in these preamp tubes.
The JMP-1 with the EL34 50/50 is still my favorite live rig!!
I have three of them - Stock, Stock, and Voodoo Amp Modded.
Swapping out the stock preamp tubes is the best way to make the JMP-1 come alive and I have different preamp tubes in each one to change up the tone and feel.
About 14 years ago I had come across a "fried" ENGL SE EL34 on the Musician's Friend website.
They were selling it for around $1600, supposedly brand new, and I was able to talk them down to $1350.
I was only interested in the amp since the ENGL people out here said they could sell me the...
I had a 2/90/2 and a 2/50/2 and I thought they were both killer sounding power amps.
I was mainly using a JMP-1 with power amps and I had decided to sell both of them since I had thought the Marshall EL34 50/50 worked best with the JMP-1 plus I was running out of rack space and 5 power amps in...
@RedB4Black It was most likely bandit2013 on the Mesa Boogie Forum.
That guy is always trying out different power tubes and preamp tubes on various amps ?
He is very helpful if you have any questions about a mesa amp especially about tube rolling/swapping.
And yeah, the Artemis II is definitely a keeper and I regret selling mine!!
This Colossus amp is almost two months old and priced at a lower "used" price (I have not seen a "used" Colossus sell for anything less than $2800 in a long time), and I was hoping to pay it forward as a brand-new amp...
I had an Artemis II and I had sold it to validate getting Kyle to make a stereo version of the Artemis (for about $5500).
Kyle ended up telling me that he was too busy and he wouldn't be able to make it (due to his Ceres pedal having just come out a few months prior).
The guy that purchased...
I'll take another look around for it again, thanks.
I know a person can use the app and/or use the website (I was using the website), so they might offer different things on each one.
I had signed up for account to see what kind of price break they give you but there wasn't any place to enter an insured amount.
Are you able to provide any directions on where to find that option in PirateShip?
Thanks!!
