Musikraft guys: come tell me about them

Put together two partscasters with musikraft roasted maple figured necks, one was quartersawn the other seemed to get quite a few growth rings across it but wasn't quartersawn. They make a great product for the money, I picked both necks for under $300 each on ebay. Fretwork is fine and they...

    NGD brings the Brootz....

Pfft, a tele bridge going full bore into a distorted amp is pretty pissed sounding though. Beautiful guitar, how does the worn in finish feel on these? I have an EJ strat and that thing was like fly paper for the first month, it's still a little sticky.

Musikraft guys: come tell me about them

I recently picked up two necks from them in an ebay auction. I will be installing them and finishing my builds with MJT bodies sometime in the next week or two. On initial inspection the necks were pretty spot on. One of the necks had slightly different carve than advertised it felt like a...

Fractal Ax FX for effects on Diezel?

Agreed with everyone up top. I tried 4cm, and in the loop with my VH4 (4CM was for pitch shifter/wah effects upfront and delays/time based fx in the loop) unity in and out all set correctly. Even though the Diezel's loop is incredible running through the Axe-Fx II just took away some of the...

What you guys think of Sweetwater?

They are awesome for special orders. Recently worked with them for a PRS Artist CU24, got it in within about 3 months. They had a PRS rep in constant contact during the ordering process. Can't beat their financing options.

    Quiet High Gain Amps

Carol-Ann or Diezel. Both have been silly quiet compared to say an Engl.

    .Strandberg* USA Run

Hey there guys, had a few questions for anyone who has owned either an olaberg or a washberg. Do BKPs typically come on there as the custom slanted set or is it the unslanted set. What is the action like at the saddle? Is the string, saddle slightly recessed into the bridge/tuner assembly...

    NAD: Carol-Ann Triptik 100

I think I own this particular triptik now :D . I would say it is in modern hot rod Marshall range of gain; not full engl or recto sizzle, just really strong drive. It's always defined and crunchy, doesn't mush up too much (the bass frequencies stay especially defined), and the power section is...

String height (not action). Rarely discussed.

This was a major problem for me on my PRS hollowbody when I first got it. It's a set neck guitar with a single piece wrap around bridge/tailpiece so there is no way around it. I had been playing strat/trem guitars including a CU24 prior to this and it was a hindrance at first. It was just a...

Possible similarities between the Triptik and Friedman Naked

I have just come into possession of a very nice Carol-Ann Triptik. I have not gotten a chance to play it as I am about 5 hours away from my speaker cabinet In the interim I was curious if anyone has tried both of these amps out and whether there could possibly be a common link between them. On...

    what's your favorite flamethrower pickup

BKP Nailbomb is a very aggressive sounding pickup without turning the instrument output waveform into a brick. There is the right balance of high end sizzle, mid push, and low end body in a PRS. It makes the guitar sound angry but still lets you breath on the dynamics a bit.

Most expensive piece of gear you ever purchased?

I have an invoice but there were a few discounts that hit, traded some wood to the builder, bought hardware myself so I don't have a concrete number on this one. http://www.tkinstruments.com/model_sx_hollow_8.htm Other than that it's a tie between a used PRS artist package singlecut trem and a...

Worst case of G.A.S. you have ever had??

This one for me too. I had owned a Herbert for a while and got along with it. Sold it off and got a VH4 instantly loved that, then the Hagen came up. Snatched up the first one I saw in the classifieds here, no negotiation, no tire kicking, just straight out. Those two amps are still going...

    If money wasn't a factor....

Amps: Diezel VH4 (own) Marshall Plexi/plexi type amplifier (probably modified in some way with a PPIMV and a bit more gain flexibility) Fender twin reverb Guitars: PRS Custom 24 (own) Gibson Les Paul Custom silverburst (with a real ebony board) A suhr of some type either a modern or a standard...

VH4 and Axe Fx 2 4 cable method

I have this going right now. If you use the noise buster cables (about $80 when you get it all set up) as indicated in the Axe Fx II manual it totally removes the hiss. Otherwise there is a tolerable amount of noise in the loop. This combination makes for the ultimate routing and effects...

You can only have 1 channel of 1 amp...

First off, we need NSFW tags on certain things    . Nearly had a heart attack with that one in my cube. Secondly I will vote for the VH-4 ch. 3 as well. It's just so much gratification, I don't get how people can complain about a "stiff" or "overly tight" "processed" nature...

Heavier strings sound better; it's a scientific fact.

I play like a cave man so anything too light will go out of tune for me, thick strings also have a bit more life and character while playing unplugged. 11s for E or D standard on my PRSi, 10.5s for my 25.5" super strat (same tunning) and 10s with an added 60 and 80 for my ERGs (27" scale). I...

If you won the lottery what piece of gear would you buy?

Original Diezel VH4 Blue Face, or a Friedman Naked, throw in an LP Custom in either black or silverburst and an '85 PRS Custom 24 and I think that kind of rounds things out really as far as my wants needs and desires in the realm of gear are concerned. The cars BMW M3 for the daily and Ferrari...

The Diezel Smile Factor and You

I have owned most of the big boys in the Diezel lineup. The VH4, the Hagen, and the Herbert MKI. All of them are phenomenal amplifiers and deserve their place at the top of the heap in my opinion. There is a definite mojo/je no sais quoi/smile factor to each of the products whether it is the...
