The Plexi and JCM 800 were hugely popular (much more so than the current offerings), and much simpler to make than the DSL, JVM, etc. Seems to be the trend with Marshall over the past thirty years to blow away anything that is actually awesome, and then "reissue" it with crappier components for...
+1. If we can't GAS about gear here, what's the point? :D
Regarding the new PRS amps... I can't speak for the Sweet 16 since I haven't played one yet, but if their "flagship" line is anything to go buy, there are probably many, many amps out there that will cop that tone and level of quality...
Are you locked into the Fender camp? You can find a fantastic American G&L Legacy or S-500 for that price range used.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go George L or Lava for my wiring. I work in IT, so cable management is not an issue for me
I know some people rag on the George L's for being "bright", but I see them as "hi-fi". They work well with my setup since the Guytron is already a dark and...
Hey rack-masters, I'm looking for a rack-drawer that I can use to hold my pedals. I'm probably going to move to a GCX/Ground Control Pro setup, but I have no idea what sort of rack drawer would be best.
I know I don't want velcro, because it always seems like the velcro pads on my pedals are...

The VH2 is fantastic, but you have to be very careful about the guitar/amp combination. It could easily be thin and overly trebly in a bright guitar, especially through a brighter Marshall style amp. I have a set in my all-mahogany G&L, which USED to be a dark guitar... and now it's...
Other than just playing loudly, of course, since I'm sure some wise-ass will post that :gethim:
I'm currently running a 40hz sine-wave through my 2x12 with Guytron Bigtone 55 speakers. I've already put some hours in playing, but nothing at high, or even moderate volume. The sine-wave is...
I used to own the 60watt 212 combo, and it was great. Even better with the bias mod and proper current going to the tubes :D You have to mod it if you want to use EL34s, though, as there is a pin on the sockets that needs to be grounded or something, otherwise you cook the EL34s...
Sold it to...
You stole my S1 you A-hole!
j/k, I can attest first hand to how awesome that guitar is, ESPECIALLY the #4 position. Best clean tone ever, bar none. I could live with just that tone for days.
The Bareknuckle Holy Diver really kills in the bridge, too, if you don't dig the SSV...
I've been overclocking my CPUs since 2001, and I have not once had one give up the ghost. RAM and hard drives yes, but never a CPU. In fact, there are some servers I have at work that are over five years old under constant usage and they are running just ducky.
There was really nothing I disliked about that amp last year, it's excellent. Just not really my style, as I prefer a darker sounding amp. Still, I've had some GAS for it ever since... and the price is fantastic, too.
I hope that Bill can get to a NAMM show, too, because he's probably going...
You have described the Bareknuckle VHII to a T. Very bright, clear, yet warm. Best clean 'bucker I've used, though if you want a lot of bottom end, this pickup isn't it. Glassy is the word I'd use to describe it.
What kind of guitar did you put it in? In my all-mahogany maple-top G&L, it was the chunkiest low-mid pickup I've ever used. I have a BKP VHII in that guitar now, which has gobs of upper mids and high-end, and it's almost a polar opposite from the HN3. Can't speak for the HN3+ since I haven't...
I empathize with you dude; it's hard when there is SO MUCH awesome gear out there. I'm lucky that I found my go-to amp back in 2003. I think if you find something that really speaks to you, then all you will want to do is write music. Having a great band is part of that; I care less about my...
Guytron BigTone 55; I have a pair in my BuzzBomb and they kill. Very full with great top-end detail, sort of a V30 base with a Blue top and and the woodiness of the Greenback.
