What I was missing with the Boss was the flange effect was too low in the mix, hence 2 knobs on 10. So now that the flange is dripping wet it was easier to dial in the appropriate sweep/depth/width. What didn't work was taking the MXR settings and substituting them with the Boss settings, i.e...
Can someone simplify the use of mixolydian is this video? The way I understand modes is if you're playing over an E pedal note then you would play a whatever major scale over that.
I think if you had an E pedal note then you would play a D major scale to get the Dorian mode.
Weak how?
1.
lacking the power to perform physically demanding tasks; lacking physical strength and energy.
"she was recovering from the flu and was very weak"
2.
liable to break or give way under pressure; easily damaged.
"the salamander's tail may be broken off at a weak spot near the base"...
Aside from pickups is there anything I should upgrade that would make a tonal difference?
I'll play with the pickups for a while and can change them as needed and will do a fret dress, I just bought it used.
Just wondering about the electronics or bridge, the nut has to be replaced anyway.
Thanks.

Ok, so he's probably bringing the edge of the pick into play. Kinda like the ending to The Thing That Should Not Be.

I know what you mean but just can't get it to be that prevalent. I recorded my band playing it and it just has no pop, you can barely hear the flange.
It's missing that top end, stand way out effect.
Is he doing pick scrapes along with the flange?
It's very hard to replicate, I have a boss flanger and tried it both in the effect loop and before the amp.
It could've also been enhanced with studio gear during the mix/post production or whatever.
Just curious with your opinions.
Yeah mine too and I don't know why. I mean Rhoads was probably the better player but I prefer Jake, even though the songs weren't the greatest.
Neither was the Rhoads era tunes though.
