Hello everyone, i just got an ss-100 and i love the amp, it just has this loud hum and gets really hot, like alot hotter than my jj-100. The standby switches are very hot after a while of playing. Is this normal for this model? It hums alot louder and heats up a lot more than my other friedman...

get the JJ, for that price you wont regret it, I see used ones going for 3k so at 2700 you could sell it anyway. I have one and love it!!! Also, Guitar center is blowing out SS100's for a crazy low price just to move them (1,999), that would be different than a BE 100.

I believe there is the gain cut switch and dave made the voicing switch do a lot more, one side is more open and raw and the other is the more compressed and smoothed out sound of the 2014 model. and then there is the little red light!! that's new too.

I just bought a demo peavey 6505, it was mint. I would not even know it was a demo. all the tags were still on it.

I agree, I think people often get the words sound and tone mixed up. I feel that the tone is from the tools, (amps, guitar etc) and the sound is from the player, the technique, the phrasing, and overall vocabulary of the player. I have owned the 5150 almost everything in the 5150 line and was...

I have a JJ-100 with the ss-100 clean added. When I got the amp The clean channel was very loud ( at least that is what I remember). I think something happened because even though it is still loud I have to crank the clean volume. I will put the dirty channel volume at 3 and the clean channel...

Never wanted to convince anyone of anything, just wanted to know what their opinions were.

I played both the runt and smallbox and pink taco and the sound was good , not great but the feel of the amps were very different. The runt seemed much more stiff and harder to play than the small box and pink taco. That was the feeling I got anyway.

good comments, I have a JJ-100, so the big bad ass amp is covered, I did want a small box because I love the clean channel but felt the dirty channel didn't quite get me there, I like the taco because I already have a 100 watt. I just wanted opinions on those who have played both.
