Honestly no i havent had the chance to play a V. But from the clips ive heard i wasnt all that excited to run out to find one either. Im sure its a great amp tho and just needs to be tweaked like all mesa stuff does.
i totally agree! and yeah i guess you do mostly see this amp used for metal but it can accomplish SO many tones. i dont think ill ever get rid of this amp i may move over and try other things out but will definetely always be keeping this..
what exactly does this comment mean? do you mean to say you've only seen the mark iv used for palm muted scooped metal tones? and thanks for enjoying it!
im also curious as to how much that EQ was influencing that tone, on next clip please demonstrate it without the EQ as well. man your getting us all pumped over this thing haha. checkout my mesa mark iv demo too guys
im a huge srv fan, so i guess you can say i like this "style" of blues. the guy can play. but id rather hear him doing his original music way more than living out his srv wannabe fantasies. i dig his music and think hes a great writer/composer. i dont judge musicians by whether they are assholes...
yeah i use y-split trs cables, 2 of them. the 2 go out from the gsystems switching relay out, then you can choose what u wanna switch on the iv, i chose for control of channel 1 2 3 and the eq.
i use one with a mark iv myself, make sure you set the back selector switch to "external"? if i remember right, rather than "footswitch" otherwise you will come across loud popping noises when switching channels.
i dont think you should choose a pick based on how long it lasts.....i mean cmon its a friggin pick! play what feels right. i use the jazz III ultex as well, to my ears they sound better than the reds and blacks. although i still think the blacks sound better than red, these ultex sound better...
kind of a cool idea but i dont feel you need to use the exact amp model of what the actual guitarist used to play everything. id just worry more about setting up a few good sounding patches, clean, low gain, mid gain, hi gain, hi gain lead, mid gain lead, lead wet, etc. at least thats what i do...
