Amp is in perfect shape and sounds great. Was modified by Friedman to have the boost footswitchable, which turns it into a three channel amp as the boost is a gain boost. Sounds great at low levels and probably has the best clean tone of any amp I've ever used. Takes pedals amazingly well...
I just got a 50 watt too, really liking it a lot. I believe the new is in the down position, and the old is in the up position. Old is what you're switching to.
I've had a lot of quickrod, an 05, an 09, a 13 and a couple street rods. The new 50 watter is probably my favorite, or tied for...
As far as how it works, I think it's just like putting a volume pedal or eq in the loop and turning it down.
It does work well, and will get down to bedroom levels but... it does lose a bit of tone. Maybe it sounds a little dull compared, or the highs roll off, not sure how to describe...
I dont think you even have to have a cable in it. I've had quite a few Quick Rods and have a 50 watt Quick Rod now but it's where we practice so I cant check right now. I usually have something in the loop, but I played it here at home a while back and I dont yhink i had anything in it.
Are there any places you can send pedals that dont work to have them fixed? Ive got a carbon copy with a bad resistor or something right next to the power supply, a couple other pedals that dont work, wouldnt mind having them back if it doesnt cost me more than the price of new.
Ive played several small shows with my katana 100 watt combo and a few pedals (tuner, EQ in the loop for boost) but if I spent the time to program it with the footswitch better I Could probably do it without most of the pedals. Bought an epiphone les Paul traditional in one of musicians friend...
I use a boss ge-7 in the loop of any of my amps that doesnt have a second master. Works great in my Marshalls, xtc, and runt 50. Leave the sliders flat, but run the level up until it boosts where you want it. No tone difference at all just louder. Works well with delays in the loop too.
Redid this list a while back when a friend asked, and I keep remembering others I had smh. Wish I had quite a few of them back.

Congrats! Splawns have a ton of thump. When I first got one of my quick rods I took it that Saturday night to a show. Set it up how it sounded good at home and had no casters on my cabinet. The other guitsr player stsrted playing a song as we set up and the drummer started playing so we all...
Ive had several variations of quick rods and the one I'd like to have back is the first old one I had. Ive heard some of the latest ones sound more like the old ones. Not sure. I didn't like the 2013 and 2015 I had anywhere near as much. Still sounded great and I love the New options but not...
Great amp. I almost gave up on it until I tried different speakers. Weirdly enough mine sounds better with vintage 30s over old greenbacks. Had been using a bogner 4x12 with blackbacks in it at practice, And I just couldn't get along with it. Tons of low end but just didn't have a good...
DSL 50. Have one. And a runt. Had a 5153. Theyre all great but for a cheap backup you can't beat a dsl for the price. Of its something youre going to play some and as a backup... Its still awesome. Hard to pick between it and the runt.
Talk to Scott splawn and have it fixed. Ive had several quick rods and street rods and one I had sounded like You described. I tried setting bias. Changing all the tubes. Different speakers. I had to run the presence all the way up to get it to where it wasnt muddy. I gave up and ebayed...
