I just landed myself a Splawn Nitro with KT77s in it. This thing is slaying! I was a little worried, considering all of my guitar cabs have English V30 in them, but it sounds great. My only complaint (being weird coming from a bassist) is that there is too much bass. I have the bass and resonance set pretty low, and it is really thumpy. I need to try it in a band environment to really dial it in, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Congrats man!

Welcome to the club.

Yeah, the Nitro's are pretty scooped from what I've heard/read. Consider the resistor swap to convert to EL34s and there might also be some tubes swaps that could help a bit as well. I'm also a big fan of an EQ pedal in the loop. Also check out http://splawnfans.proboards.com/

Congrats!! Great amps, ALL of them.

I don’t own a Nitro, however, open my QR my bass knob is what changes based on the venue.
Basically I like a bit more of a “treble” tone, with mids of course, so my treble and mids are usually high and stay put, yet the bass needs to be adjusted from venue to venue. Just my experience.

Really depends on what you’re trying to achieve as well. Experiment a bit

I used to own a Nitro loaded with Winged =C= El34's and it was absolutely killer. To me it sounded like what I wanted my 6505+ to sound like. Congrats on the amp.

Congrats! Splawns have a ton of thump. When I first got one of my quick rods I took it that Saturday night to a show. Set it up how it sounded good at home and had no casters on my cabinet. The other guitsr player stsrted playing a song as we set up and the drummer started playing so we all joined in. After a we stopped the other guitsr player told the bass player "dude you have got to turn down!!" He laughed and said "no... I wasn't playing, hell I dont even have my amp turned on!!" I chunked a chord and it shook the building. I Had to turn the bass down to about 9:00. LOL

Glad you're enjoying it man. I got the 5150 III all returned to stock so we're both happy.

It was an awesome amp, I really dug it. I too felt it had a bit too much bass but with a boost and a standard size cab with the right speakers, it could be plenty tight an punchy. Louder than hell, super clear. I just preferred the voicing of my quick rod but I'm sure I'll find another Nitro in my hands before long.
