OMG that’s the stuff. Tons of gain and crunch. That is just the sound man.

Gotta get a Power Station or something. So damn loud.

They don’t sound the same using attenuators, etc, IMO. I’ve owned my 100 watt Marshall’s since 1990 and playing loud is best. What, what

Haha. WHAT?!?!? My ears are still ringing a bit. I guess I plugged into the “normal” channel first and eas a bit underwhelmed. It’s sounded cool but not as wild as I hoped. Switched inputs and was blown away. So awesome.

A few minutes of me wanking around. Apologies if I butchered some of your fav riffs. Definitely a few points where I forgot what I was playing.

People who don't like Marshalls, I seriously wonder if they've ever had one at REAL volume...because if you haven't ever been able to you are missing out on the magic. Not every Marshall is great but when you find one, it's a religious experience.

What are your amp setting in that clip? It sounds a bit thin, but that could be the recorder.

Nice tone and playing! Dig it.

It’s just an iPhone recording. Treble channel only. Volume 9. Treble and mids at 10. Bass was either at 5 or 8 (I turned it up at some point and don’t remember if it was for this clip). Presence at 10.

Sounded great to me in the room, but I admit I like a leaner/meaner (thin?) tone.

I did eventually jump the channels, and that thickened up the tone.

EDIT: just listened to the clip on some AT cans, and it sounds pretty much like how it was in the room. To me, that’s just the perfect sound. I wouldn’t want a thicker sound, but it can get thicker with jumping the channels, and it got bonkers with an echoplex-type boost.

If you have a small EQ pedal, stick it in between jumping channels, then you can “blend” in some really cool sounds. People forget to think outside the box and never seem to catch this trick.

That’s a great trick. Never even heard of doing that.

First thing I need is a volume solution. I can’t stand in front of that thing at full blast for long.

Ordered a Fryette power station, so we’ll see. But I’m surprised at how good the amp sounds at “home theater” volumes just pushed with an SD-1 and clean boost (CAE Line Diver). Really like this thing.

You actually were right on: it was thin sounding. I replaced a cracked coupling cap on the treble channel, and it got much thicker sounding. Then I realized the negative feedback wasn’t connected right for the amp. Fixed that (dropping the negative feedback amount) and it got thicker and angrier. Then for kicks I added the V2a bypass cap (which wasn’t on most ‘73s), and it got thicker and angrier still.

Just in love with this amp. The Power Station is a wonderful piece of gear.

sounds good bruh.

Thanks for doing that. How did you do it? I know I've done it before, but it was trial and error and I ran out of ideas last night.

Woah! That's loud. I would love to hear one that loud miked up properly. I have a feeling that the iPhone isn't doing you justice.
