I've placed a couple of orders for super-Tele-type guitars with Schecter in California. They turned out awesome, and the company was very easy to work with, asking thoughtful questions to make sure that everything turned out perfect.

I've been super happy with my Grover Jackson made Friedman guitars. the superstrats (cali / vintage s) are as good as any suhr/anderson etc. I've owned. I also did a custom build of a vintage T and I play it more than anything else nowadays...

I’d recommend McInturff if your looking for a single cut/Les Paul style guitar. I compared it with several Nik Huber’s (including a really nice Orca model) and liked it better

EGC is outstanding. I AB’ed mine with a Trussart and much preferred it to the Trussart

Also love my Zerberus, but that’s a German maker and GNG I hear is really great, but is an Italian maker

Do you not like Gibson-style guitars or just Gibson the brand? I remember mooncobra posting about a Wilkinson-built Jimmy Page LP replica that looked awesome.

Check out Jon Hill at Bootleg guitars. He built me a super strat prob close to 15 years ago, loosely based on the Koa ibanez voyager and it’s amazing. Have played some really nice guitars and that thing still smokes them all. One man shop and great guy, doubt you’d be disappointed.

The David Thomas McNaught I got from John is pretty freaking incredible.

I recommend experiencing a Trussart in person....they're AMAZING! They have a unique quality that's unlike anything else I've heard, which is why I say "experience" instead of 'try'. Truly incredible sounding guitars!

There are killer looking guitars.
THEN there are works of art that play like butter and have killer tone.

McNaught is the latter .

For that money, maybe look at done custom builders like Black Water Guitars and order exactly what you want.

Thanks for all the great replies. McNaught looks pretty amazing.

I like the guitars Gibson makes, I just don't like the brand
I’ve had two McNaught’s and my buddy has four. Every damn one of them has been nothing short of amazing. Like, off the charts. David T is the Master IMO.

I played a Knaggs Kenai before this whole coronavirus thing hit and it impressed the heck out of me. Best new guitar I've played in a long time. Amazing tone and absolutely flawless build quality.

Find a used trussart made in the early 2000`s. Have one made in 2000 and bought one made 2014 not the same quality. Also an early one may have Tom Holmes pickups if it is a bucker type guitar.

Knaggs, Briggs, Grosh, Kauer, Gene Baker are all nice.
