I think Don knew early on that he wrote an all-time great song that would outlive him.

So instead of feeding the homeless and/or champion a more reasonable cause, he saves some patch of woods.

I have a chip on my shoulder being forced/or voted out in the band to play Eagles songs from the first album
To me it was country music.
I wanted to play/ Johnny /Edgar Winters tunes. (music in that gender)
Dont even get me started on Clarance Clearwater and the Revival
(CCR aka John Fogarty which as a cooler dude but I fought playing that chord strumming music.)
