Can’t rate it but I’ll bump ya. Is that OCD from the original era? Guys flipped on those when they came out.. curious how they stood the test so to speak.

The Depths is my favorite of the bunch.

You know, once you get the knobs set up, you don't have to move them again, right?

Bought from a local mom and pop off hype.

I just happened to be there when the catalog came in

Had to wait about 3 months with the agreement that if i didn't like it 100% refund

Hard to believe 20 yrs ago already
Cost me $189 back then

rules are what slowly kills music genres. look at jazz; blues and metal aren't far behind IMO. Caricatures of what they once were. IMO.

good thing some rules are easy to break.

So I'll use my wah and univibe whenever I damn please. :D

Seems like you are suggesting that Trower in some way qualifies as a blues musician. He's a rock guitarist.

Are effects "allowed" in blues? Sure, but if you don't know the rules then you don't know how to break them judiciously and are just another guy butchering an art form thanks to a total lack of conceptual understanding of what makes up it's core. Nobody is going to take a guy who shows up to a blues venue with a univibe and a marshall stack very seriously because it's not really blues.

what if he shows up with a wah, univibe, Marshall stack, and plays blues songs? Like Hendrix.

Trower is a fusion of blues, rock and psychedelic music IMO. He can go deep into any, and combine them. I wouldn't call what he does "purist" but I also wouldn't say some of his songs aren't blues either. He took what Hendrix was doing, and managed to live several decades longer.

The only blues record he ever released that I'm aware of was compiled by someone else from various unreleased recordings. I doubt if he had been living that it would've ever been released at all. At most his studio releases featured one or two blues recordings, sometimes none. Sure you could get away with a marshall and a wah, I've seen it done, but it's going to come across in a similar way as if I show up playing metal using an arch top and a semi clean tone. It ain't really the tools or techniques of the trade.

Blues was a feeling before it was a music, and music is an artistic expression of emotion. You can absolutely play sad music through a phaser. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It can be done.

here are some classic blues rules

looks like you can use a Marshall amp without breaking the rules. they call it a blues breaker IIRC. so maybe it broke rules?

you can do it on the cheap too!

both admit they're not blues players...so unclear what blues players would use.
