I have my eye on this clearance priced Marshall AX with Greenbacks. I've heard other players use these cabs with 100 watt heads, but I run my JSX wide open a lot and I'm a little apprehensive doing so with a cab like this. But I know the tone would be sweet with these speakers.

Suggestions? Experience?

The JSX is a pretty quiet 120 amp, but still wide open is loud for a band setting even. I used a 2x12 with greenbacks and my JSX at band volumes without any worries before. That was a little risky, but with a 4x12 I would have no concerns but I never got close to full volume.

I thought those reissue greenbacks were really rated at ~35 watts?

I think you'll be fine. I run my 5150 (also 120 watts) into a 4x12 loaded with 25 watt greenbacks. It's the secks.

Although, I don't play much louder than master at 2, sometimes 3... which is puh-lenty loud to be heard over most drums.

Well, not absolutely wide open, but darn close. I play with the master volume at 10 and the channel volume at 4. I'd really like to get that Greenback loaded cab. I hope the speakers won't flub out at that volume level. I guess I could always just use one of my other cabs when playing at stoopid loud levels. I want the GB's for the tone they offer more than anything.

i've seen 5150's used with marshall greenback cabs heaps, they've always been fine

I've never heard of any problems... most of these ratings are very generalised anyway
