Sounds like balls when you DI it, but sounds great when mic'd! I've heard some great tones from these things over the years.

Thank you Peter for checking out the clips and commenting.

A few people have told me out of the two vids, they liked the mic'd version better.

I'm definitely with them. It's making me think that I shouldn't bother using the DI method when I record with the Axe-FX II XL+ I'm trying to acquire! Good thing I already have an SM57!

Yeah, SM57 is the way to go.
I've never been a big fan of the analog cab sims anyways.

The miced version sounded killer. Great tones.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the feedback.

It's hard to beat a SM57 mic'd amp.

I would like to try this amp mic'd with my G12M greenbacks next, I betcha it'd sound good. :D

Sounds very good! Both the direct and the mic'd clips sound very usable to me. I have always thought that Line 6 stuff can sound very good when tweaked right. But where they really fall down is in FEEL. The newer stuff might be better, but the older POD's and amps always gave me the impression of being somewhat "disconnected" from the amp in how the response and articulation just fell short. I used to gig with a POD 2.0 running into the clean channel of a Randall half-stack and used to get compliments from sound guy after sound guy how great my tone was. The sound out front was really good. But I just couldn't get past the dead feel I got when playing through it. If one can get past that, then they are good tools to have at one's disposal and are perfectly gig-worthy.

Cool clips, but it's all got that Line 6 tone that's instantly recognizable in 2 seconds.

Here's an album with Line 6 gear that you can always tell it's Line 6.

The tone that starts at 1:03 is just a Pod XT.
