Update!! I'm gassing for a EBMM Axis!

I was able to compare the Axis to a MIJ EVH Wolfgang and a USA made Wolfgang. The USA was on clearance too. Both EVHs had a thinner neck than the Axis. Also both needed the fret ends filed. Every single one was terribly rough. For $3k that is unacceptable.

The Axis blew them away. I think I have found my Holy Grail guitar.

Yeah, a lot of the EVH WGs I've seen in the GCs have sharp fret ends. One I really was going to buy, but I just could not stomach having to throw more money at it.

Probably the only guitar that I’ve sold over the years that I regret. I’ll def have to grab another someday.

IMO the best of the EVH designed stuff. Owned one for a bit but could never bond with the maple board. Still think they are really cool looking guitars. In a world of the same variant of double and single cuts Ed designed a really cool unique looking guitar. The Peavey and the EVH variants in terms of looks just never worked for me because they're exaggerated versions of this.

I have a EB Axis and I think it plays and sounds incredible. I think it's possibly for me one of the easiest guitars to play as the neck profile is great. Love just the stock pickups in it. The only thing I don't like is having to shim the neck to get the action just right with the non-floating floyd trem.

I want to put a D-Tuna on it. Is the EVH the only one? Should I go Titanium? Gold or Purple?

If the rest of the hardware is gold, then you need a gold D-Tuna. For everything else, red is best.

I hated them when they first came out - couldn't get past the shape for that price back then (shallow I know, but I was a 22 yr old kid). I played one & fell in love with the neck. I've have bought and sold a bunch of them over the years as well as EBMM EVH's (I regret selling all 3 of the EVH"s - one was a hardtail - super rare, and 2 Axis- a blue and purple in particular) . I still have a burst Axis and a black EVH first year of production. I prefer the older ones. Great guitars - congrats & enjoy.

Had this one repainted using the Peavey WG seafoam paint code.

The black ones are kind of rare and this one weighs a good pound more than my others.

Green ones from 1996-2000 are also challenging to find. EBMM made only about 100 green Axis & Axis Super Sport during that period.

I've never seen a green one that wasn't an EBMM EVH, Axis EX or Tribute.
