2010 LA Amp Fest, Saturday December 11th.

List updated. Lots of new boutique guys are emailing me about bringing amps, that is awesome. Everyone is welcome. Also everyone is welcome to play, dial in amps and if any manufacturers have any artists that want to participate they are welcome to. Splawn is fully on board too.

That Kerry King 800 would be cool, I can check toward the show if the guys are still bringing what they said. Sometimes people bow out at the end and don't show.

Also I've been messing with my camcorder and finally figured out how to lower the audio record level on it. I will check and see if that helps with the clipping when videoing loud amps in the room.
 
Anyone who has duplicates of my stuff would be appreciated to "lighten the load."

Real quick, because this is getting complicated, please if you committed to bringing an amp be at the event by 12 noon with your amp ready to rock. If for some reason you're not coming let me know so I can possibly find someone else with the amp you were bringing.

Amps I'd like to see:
Fortin NATAS or Meathead or Fortin modded Marshall.
SLO, this is a must!!!!!!!
Herbert, which I think someone that's coming had in their signature.

We also spent the morning experimenting with mic levels on my Sony HD Camcorder so I can video record with no audio clipping, That ain't gonna happen but we worked on running a protools feed out to the line in on the video camera and it worked. So we are going to have some killer audio for the videos.

Remember if shipping amps I need them by the 9th, shipping address is different then studio address:

Man just bring down everything you want. I hired security and have plenty of room. I'd hate for a guy like you to not bring something and then it not show up for one reason or another.

Hey everyone,

Spent the morning contacting people who are bringing amps. Man this is gonna be huge.

1. I hired security for this, there will be a doorman tagging all the amps and checking ID's, so no one will leave with anyone else's amp. Bring your ID if you're bring an amp. Also bring the power cables and footswitch if it has one. Please put a little tag with your name on the power cable and footswitch. Set all amps to 16 ohms!

2. If people want to come by a day or so before and drop off amps that would be cool. james@jameslugo.com

3. I have a kitchen and fridge, so I will have food and drinks. Everyone is welcome to bring whatever they want. All I ask is beer only, no liqueur or wine. And any drinks like soda need to be individual bottles with twist on caps, no cans or 2 liters. I have learned my lesson.

4. People bringing amps should try to be to the event by 1pm. I'm not gonna be a stickler for this, if you come later that's fine to, just the earlier the better for me.

5. Keep this in mind, this is for fun. We are gonna do our best to show all the amps in their best light, many of the amps will be dialed in by the designer or owner of the amps.

I have figured out a method that is gonna make this amazing logistically. We will be recording everything at 24/48 and filming in 1920 X 1080 HD. I will be video editing at 24/48 in Final Cut. All the audio will be a 24/48 feed from protools to the video camera, meaning the audio on the video will be insanely good. We are gonna have all the amps stacked up 3 or 4 high on cabs for about 20 lineal feet. We will have 3 to 4 amps plugged into cabs warming up while filming, so we get done with one amp, we just move the speaker cable down the line to the next warmed up amp. All the amps will be played through a single mic'ed up cabinet for continuity. No BS. We are gonna start with the low wattage/low gain amps and work our way up. At the end we are going to stack up all the monsters of high gain and go head to head, non-stop while filming. You will hear Marshall, Friedman, Fortin, Cameron, Jose, Wizard, Splawn, Diezel, Bogner etc... Side by side non-stop in 24/48 HD with about 30K in mics, pres and Apogee Convertors. Once in a lifetime kids!
